Job description
The Senior Relationship Manager - Business Banking (Retail Banking Group) at Mashreq Bank in Dubai is responsible for managing a portfolio of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) clients, driving business growth, and maintaining high-quality customer relationships. The role focuses on achieving financial and non-financial targets by deepening client relationships, cross-selling the bankās full suite of products, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks including KYC and AML policies. This position involves conducting periodic credit facility reviews, preparing loan recommendations, monitoring account performance, and maintaining portfolio health in line with the bankās credit risk policies. The Senior Relationship Manager acts as a primary liaison between clients, risk management, and internal support units to facilitate business operations, ensuring superior customer service and adherence to credit and operational standards. The role also includes identifying new-to-bank (NTB) opportunities, mentoring junior staff, managing client documentation, and continuously upgrading client segments through tailored financial solutions. Strong communication, analytical, and relationship management skills are critical to driving revenue growth and achieving portfolio quality targets.

Key responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of business banking clients to increase share of wallet and position the bank as their primary financial partner
- Enhance relationship revenue by cross-selling the bankās range of products and services to borrowing and non-borrowing customers
- Conduct annual and periodic credit facility reviews and recommend credit structures in line with the bankās credit policy and risk appetite
- Monitor portfolio performance, ensure satisfactory account conduct, and promptly address credit or operational issues
- Implement and maintain control measures, including documentation checks, client visits, call reports, and market feedback analysis
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal requirements, including KYC and AML standards
- Identify and pursue new-to-bank (NTB) business opportunities to expand the client base
- Liaise with internal stakeholders such as Risk Management, Operations, and Legal to ensure smooth service delivery
- Develop and mentor junior staff (SSOs) to build future relationship management capability within the team
- Provide superior customer service and proactive financial advice to maintain long-term client satisfaction
- Regularly update branch and regional management on portfolio performance, sales activity, and customer engagement progress
- Promote and upgrade suitable Small Enterprise (SE) customers to the Medium Enterprise (ME) segment based on business needs and financial standing
Experience & skills
- Minimum 4 years of relevant banking experience in business banking or corporate relationship management in local or international markets
- MBA or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification preferred; Bachelorās degree with substantial relevant experience considered
- Proven expertise in credit analysis, trade finance, and financial documentation within business banking environments
- Strong understanding of banking operations, legal documentation, and compliance procedures (KYC/AML)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with a client-focused approach
- Ability to manage multiple client relationships and deliver high-quality financial solutions under tight timelines
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial statements for lending decisions
- Proactive approach with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and teamwork orientation
- Familiarity with local UAE business market dynamics and SME client needs
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
