Job description
The Assistant Risk Manager at Bank ABC Islamic in Bahrain will support the Head of Risk & Credit Support in executing a comprehensive and forward-looking risk management framework. This role ensures the integrity of risk governance processes across credit, market, operational, regulatory, conduct, and reputational risk types. The position involves coordination with Group risk functions on key frameworks including ICAAP, integrated stress testing, and business continuity management. Additionally, the incumbent will facilitate risk reporting, policy alignment with regulatory standards, and act as a central figure for fostering a risk-aware culture aligned with Islamic banking principles and AAOIFI standards.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Act as effective assistant to ABC Islamic's Head of Risk
- Coordinate activities of Group risk disciplines including stress testing, ICAAP, ORM, FRM, BCM and Data Protection frameworks
- Define risk appetite in line with ABC Islamic strategy and Group Risk Appetite Statement
- Act as ORM Champion and liaise with Group Risk
- Ensure timely and accurate risk reporting to management, BRC, and CBB
- Serve as secretary to the bankās Risk Meeting
- Resolve risk-related audit issues and liaise with Group Audit and Quality Review
- Monitor compliance with covenants, approval conditions, and credit administration
- Support governance alignment with Group and regulatory frameworks
- Promote credit awareness and embed three lines of defense risk culture
Experience & skills
- More than 5 years of experience in banking, with focus on risk management
- University degree in Business Administration or Finance
- Professional qualification in Risk is advantageous
- Understanding of credit and risk fundamentals
- Awareness of Corporate Governance principles
- Knowledge of CBB Rulebook
- Familiarity with AAOIFI standards
- Knowledge of Islamic banking products
