Job description
The Manager Planning role at OQ Exploration and Production in Muscat, Oman, leads the strategic planning team for Upstream Operated Assets under the Head of Growth & Planning. The role focuses on aligning business activities with the upstream vision and strategy by analyzing operational data and developing plans for growth and profitability. This position requires a deep understanding of industry best practices, regulatory frameworks, and business trends to drive efficiency and ensure operational readiness. The role also involves significant interaction with internal upstream teams and external government and partner stakeholders.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Determine and develop the most suitable and economically viable engineering methods throughout the development stages and oversee procedures.
- Identify, collect and sort necessary data substantially to yield performance information on various Upstream Operated Assets departments.
- Develop strategic plans by analyzing input data and technology roadmap.
- Act as partners and government liaison and follow all regulation and procedures.
- Develop long term plans including integration and evaluation of production, capex/opex and future programs/activities.
- Monitor industry best practices, be aware of business and market trends.
- Assess on-going projects and make recommendations regarding their future development.
- Cooperate in the preparation of the 'project development' section of Upstream Business Plan.
- Continuously assess & identify priorities and objectives and select valuable strategies.
- Undertake risk assessment based on cost-benefit analyses, justifying expenditures or recommending countermeasures.
- Lead, monitor and report planning with continuous improvement to contribute to cost efficiency, increased reliability, quality and safety.
- Regularly track performance of major activities for continuous improvement.
- Develop consolidated annual business plan.
- Prepare and furnish reports to various stakeholders.
- Research and analyze technology best practices to identify systems to be adopted for optimal results.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field.
- 12+ years of relevant experience in a similar planning and performance role.
- Experience in asset management and performance tracking.
- Knowledge of petroleum economics.
- Experience managing partners and government relations.
- Excellent English language skills (written, spoken, and read).
- Computer literacy including proficiency in MS Office.
- Experience in planning/optimization and performance management.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to persuasively communicate at various corporate levels.
- Ability to work across different functions and multicultural environments.
