Job description
Bank ABC Islamic, based in Bahrain, is hiring an Assistant Risk Manager to support the Head of Risk & Credit Support in managing the bankās risk functions across multiple risk classes. This role involves implementing risk governance, managing frameworks for credit, market, and operational risk, and ensuring alignment with the bankās strategic objectives and regulatory expectations. The position plays a key role in embedding an enterprise-wide risk culture and supporting risk reporting, stress testing, ICAAP, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on Islamic banking standards.

Key responsibilities
- Assist the Head of Risk and Credit Support in governance and oversight of all risk classes.
- Coordinate Group risk activities including stress testing, ICAAP, and regulatory compliance.
- Implement frameworks for Operational Risk Management (ORM), Financial Risk Management (FRM), Business Continuity Management (BCM), and Data Protection.
- Define and align Risk Appetite for ABC Islamic with strategic goals and Group Risk Appetite Statement.
- Act as ORM Champion and liaison with Group Risk for framework implementation.
- Prepare timely and accurate risk reports for management, Board Risk Committee, and Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB).
- Serve as secretary to the bankās Risk Committee meetings.
- Resolve risk-related audit issues and liaise with Group Audit Quality Review (GAQR).
- Monitor compliance with loan covenants and credit administration requirements.
- Support alignment of governance policies and procedures with Group and regulatory standards.
- Promote credit awareness and support development of a risk-aware culture aligned with the three lines of defense model.
Experience & skills
- More than 5 years of experience in banking with a focus on risk management.
- University degree in Business Administration or Finance.
- Professional qualification in Risk (preferred).
- Strong understanding of credit and risk fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Corporate Governance frameworks.
- Knowledge of Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) Rulebook.
- Understanding of AAOIFI standards and Islamic banking products.
