Job description
The Senior Manager - Accounting will oversee and supervise all aspects of the Red Sea Utility Company’s accounting function, including financial statement preparation, compliance, and billing operations. The role ensures accuracy and transparency in financial reporting, adherence to accounting standards, and risk mitigation across accounting and billing processes. This leader will drive process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and provide strategic financial insights to support the company’s objectives.

Key responsibilities
- Manage preparation, accuracy, and integrity of financial statements in line with accounting standards and regulations.
- Monitor and control variances between budgeted and actual results, providing insights for decision-making.
- Develop and safeguard supporting documentation for financial reports, ensuring transparency and audit readiness.
- Oversee internal controls across accounting and billing operations to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Drive efficiency in accounting processes, optimizing billing, invoicing, and reporting procedures.
- Discuss and resolve audit requirements with internal and external auditors, ensuring timely closure of findings.
- Ascertain and monitor cost structures, financial commitments, and obligations for effective control.
- Establish and review accounting and financial policies ensuring compliance with laws, tax frameworks, and corporate standards.
- Guarantee compliance with IFRS and local accounting standards, safeguarding financial integrity.
- Oversee preparation of MIS and functional reports for management.
- Strategize enhancements to reporting and control systems, leveraging automation for accuracy.
- Plan and drive initiatives for cost optimization, process improvement, and productivity enhancement.
- Monitor risks in accounting and financial processes and implement mitigation measures.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s in Business Administration preferred.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CA, or CMA highly desirable; SOCPA certification required.
- 12–15 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the utility industry.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and tax laws.
- Proficiency in analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and providing strategic insights.
- Experience in managing audits and ensuring compliance with IFRS and local regulations.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate accounting teams.
- Strong adherence to ethical standards and compliance with financial laws.
