Job description
The Director of Recreation is responsible for leading and overseeing all recreation programs and facilities at The Cove Rotana Resort in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. This senior leadership role ensures that recreational offerings are engaging, innovative, safe, and aligned with the overall objectives of the resort. The position involves strategic planning, budget management, staff leadership, and cross-department collaboration to deliver high-quality guest experiences. The Director ensures facilities are properly maintained, safety standards are strictly adhered to, and recreational programs meet diverse guest needs. The role requires strong operational oversight, creativity in program development, and the ability to lead teams effectively in a hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement diverse recreational programs and activities catering to various age groups and guest interests
- Oversee recreation facilities including scheduling, maintenance coordination, and safety compliance
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate recreation staff to ensure operational excellence
- Collaborate with other departments to plan and execute events aligned with resort objectives
- Manage and monitor budgets and expenses related to recreation programs and facilities
- Evaluate program effectiveness using participation data, guest feedback, and performance metrics
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and risk management standards

Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Proven experience managing recreation programs and facilities in a leadership role, preferably within hospitality
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of recreational programming and facility operations
- Experience in budgeting and financial management
- Ability to develop creative and engaging recreation strategies
- Strong organizational and time management skills
