Job description
The Commercial Director at Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre, a Forbes 5-Star luxury hotel, is responsible for leading the development and execution of the property's commercial strategy across all segments and channels to maximize total revenue, market share, and profitability. This includes oversight of Sales, Conferences and Events, Marketing and Public Relations, and Reservations functions, working closely with hotel leadership and regional support teams. The role entails strategic planning and execution of revenue-generating initiatives across Rooms, Food & Drinks, Spa, Events, and other revenue streams. Key activities include collaboration with operations, revenue, and marketing teams, building and maintaining relationships with key accounts and Hilton Worldwide Sales partners, monitoring market trends and competitor activity, and aligning commercial strategies with brand standards and guest expectations. The director is accountable for achieving financial targets, managing budgets, optimizing cost of sale, and driving TGOP and EBITDA performance, while integrating commercial systems and tools into decision-making. Leadership responsibilities include coaching, mentoring, succession planning, talent development, fostering accountability and collaboration, and contributing to executive leadership decisions.

- Develop and execute the annual commercial strategy and budget using Hiltonās Commercial Focus process and business intelligence tools
- Drive total revenue performance across all hotel segments and channels while optimizing market share and cost of sale
- Collaborate with Director of Operations, Revenue, Sales, Marketing and other stakeholders to meet or exceed commercial targets across Rooms, Food & Drinks, Spa, Events and other revenue-generating departments
- Support strategic planning of pricing and inventory management through collaboration with centralized Revenue team
- Build and maintain relationships with key accounts, Hilton Worldwide Sales, and business partners to generate new revenue opportunities
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify commercial opportunities and risks
- Represent the hotel in commercial reviews, area calls, and stakeholder presentations including regional and owner updates
- Oversee and align local marketing, e-commerce, and Public Relations activity with the hotelās commercial vision
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing commercial team across Sales, Conferences and Events, Marketing and Public Relations, and Reservations functions
- Ensure succession planning and talent pipeline development through mentoring and performance management
- Act as commercial role model by sharing best practices and developing future leaders
- Establish a culture of accountability, collaboration, and strategic thinking within the commercial team
- Ensure commercial systems and tools are fully utilized and integrated into daily decision-making
- Review and approve sales contracts, proposals, pricing strategies, and group business opportunities aligned with forecast and revenue goals
- Support delivery of on-brand messaging and positioning across all digital and offline channels
- Deliver the hotelās commercial revenue budget and support GM and Finance team in achieving TGOP and EBITDA targets
- Forecast and manage marketing, sales, and business development expenses within approved budgets
- Track and analyze business performance and proactively adjust strategies to align with financial goals
Experience & skills
- Previous experience as Commercial Director within a luxury hotel in the UAE
- Demonstrated leadership capability to drive, inspire, and develop a team of high-performing leaders
- Proven ability to grow business and build trust with ownership and asset management
- Minimum 3+ years hospitality/travel industry experience in a revenue-generating or commercial services role
- Minimum 3+ years experience presenting strategic commercial plans to senior executives and constituent groups
- Experience in multiple disciplines with knowledge of Marketing and E-commerce
- 3+ years working with departmental financial data for strategic and tactical decision-making
- 3+ years experience evaluating and identifying business opportunities
- Proficiency in local language is a strong advantage
- Previous experience within a Forbes Travel Guideārated environment is an added advantage
