Job description
The Development Manager ā Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) leads high-impact blockchain initiatives within the DLT Center of Excellence, designing and deploying enterprise-grade blockchain solutions including smart contracts and digital asset tokenization. The role focuses on technical leadership, architecting and maintaining blockchain protocols, smart contracts and consensus mechanisms, ensuring all solutions meet security, scalability and regulatory compliance requirements aligned with banking industry standards. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and optimizing Distributed Ledger Technology systems for performance and reliability and overseeing the full Software Development Life Cycle for blockchain projects from coding to production deployment. The role requires implementation of DevOps best practices such as Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines and enforcing code quality through rigorous code reviews. It ensures alignment with internal controls and global payment regulations, including Standard Chartered Bankās Global Payment Transparency Process. Collaboration is central, involving cross-functional work with security, compliance and product teams to integrate DLT into enterprise ecosystems and researching emerging technologies such as zero-knowledge proofs and peer-to-peer networks to pilot new innovations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with permissioned blockchains including Quorum, Hyperledger Besu, Hyperledger Fabric and Corda, as well as public blockchains such as Ethereum, and proficiency in Solidity, Python or Go, microservices architecture and RESTful APIs. The role requires experience with cloud deployment on AWS or Azure and infrastructure automation using Terraform and Helm. Domain expertise includes fintech or banking projects involving real world asset tokenization, cross-border payments or decentralized identity solutions, along with a strong understanding of cryptography, PKI, digital signatures and consensus algorithms. Soft skills include the ability to translate complex technical concepts for business stakeholders, strong problem-solving in fast-paced environments and experience mentoring teams and fostering continuous learning.
