Job description
Clyde & Co seeks a Senior Associate to join its Energy, Marine & Natural Resources (EMNR) practice in Dubai. The role involves providing comprehensive legal services to clients in the energy, marine, and natural resources sectors, including corporate transactions, asset and trade finance, litigation, arbitration, regulatory compliance, and sanctions advisory. The position requires expertise in marine insurance and casualty claims, with a focus on delivering pragmatic, risk-conscious advice in a dynamic and fast-changing market. The successful candidate will work on complex multi-jurisdictional and cross-border transactions and disputes, leveraging deep industry knowledge to assist clients in navigating geopolitical and market factors affecting the sector. The role also entails contributing to the firm's thought leadership in energy transition and regulatory developments.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Advise clients on corporate transactions, asset and trade finance, litigation, arbitration, regulatory compliance, and sanctions within the EMNR sectors
- Provide legal counsel on marine insurance and casualty claims
- Conduct due diligence and draft legal documents related to energy, marine, and natural resources projects
- Manage complex multi-jurisdictional and cross-border transactions and disputes
- Stay abreast of geopolitical and market factors impacting the EMNR sectors and advise clients accordingly
- Contribute to the firm's thought leadership on energy transition and regulatory developments
- Collaborate with global teams to deliver integrated legal solutions to clients
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships within the EMNR sectors
Experience & skills
- Qualified solicitor in a common law jurisdiction (e.g., England & Wales, Australia, Canada)
- 5ā10 years of post-qualification experience in legal practice, with a focus on energy, marine, or natural resources law
- Proven experience in litigation, arbitration, and regulatory compliance within the EMNR sectors
- Strong knowledge of marine insurance and casualty claims
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions and disputes
- Excellent legal research, drafting, and project management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a global team environment
- Strong client relationship management and business development skills
