Job description
The Senior Electrical Designer at Saipem is responsible for supporting the Lead Electrical Engineer and managing an engineering team of approximately 10 people within oil and gas projects. The role executes technical tasks related to the design, verification, testing, and study of electrical systems in compliance with project requirements, time schedules, and quality standards. The designer ensures timely exchange of information across all project stakeholders, implements Saipem operating guidelines, and maintains compliance with QA/QC and HSE standards. Responsibilities cover the full project lifecycle, including technology development, feasibility studies, bidding and commercial proposal preparation, project execution, construction, and start-up. The role includes analyzing tender technical requirements, participating in electrical system design reviews, defining technical queries, deviations, and alternatives, issuing requests for quotation for electrical materials, preparing material quantities and weights (MTOs), and preparing bills of quantities (BOQ) for erection works cost estimation. During project execution, the designer reviews client technical documentation, prepares specifications, data sheets, and inspection data sheets, develops electrical system plant design including cable routing, grounding, lighting, tracing layouts, and substation arrangements in 2D and 3D, performs power cable sizing, defines typical installation details and bulk materials selection, prepares electrical materials take-offs, participates in 3D modelling plant reviews, supports construction and start-up activities, assists in engineering adjustments, and reviews as-built technical documentation. The role may also involve international travel based on project requirements.
