Job description
As a Microsoft Senior Data Center IT Support Technician, you will provide IT support for secure access workstations, laptops, servers, and conference room A/V equipment, ensuring all devices meet compliance standards and are maintained with the latest updates. The role involves managing SAW inventory, assisting with repairs, performing component swaps and troubleshooting, supporting deployment of on-site data center infrastructure, and assisting with inventory and asset management. You will work closely with data center and corporate teams to maintain smooth operations, embodying Microsoft’s culture and values while ensuring safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities
- Build strong working relationships with people working within the data center and at corporate.
- Ensure SAW devices are in a healthy state, meeting security compliance standards.
- Receive confidential information to perform BIOS setting changes.
- Manage SAW inventory, including ordering, receiving, assigning/re-assigning, and decommissioning devices.
- Provide guidance to users for common SAW repair issues and escalate issues experienced by users.
- Perform Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) for SAWs damaged within the first 30 days of receipt.
- Provide Senior Data Center Technician-level support, including power cycles, swap out failed components, handling storage media, and troubleshooting.
- Perform cable installations, hardware rack/stack installations, testing, and troubleshooting using standard data center processes.
- Support the deployment of on-site DC physical infrastructure including servers, network devices, SANs, Windows Server OS support, parts/component replacement, and physical hardware troubleshooting.
- Assist Data Center Inventory and Asset Management Team with shipping/receiving and inventory management to address high work volumes as required.

Experience & skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements including the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
- Technical college degree in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Applicable certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, or Network certifications preferred.
- Experience operating heavy-load movement equipment (pallet jacks, chassis lifts, etc.) preferred.
- Knowledge and execution of organization’s safety programs and compliance policies preferred.
- Flexibility to work non-business hours (shifts) including weekends and/or holidays preferred.
- Valid license to drive standard street-legal automatic transmission vehicles within local jurisdiction preferred.
