Job description
Wood is recruiting for a PMC Senior Static Engineer with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry for ADNOC Onshore, based in Abu Dhabi. The role requires providing single-point responsibility for all mechanical equipment engineering (static equipment) deliverables, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements. Responsibilities include managing design deliverables, vendor interactions, EPC scope development, technical support to site, risk management, and promoting continuous improvement. The role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring safe and timely project completion while upholding technical quality.

Key responsibilities
- Take single-point responsibility for all mechanical equipment engineering (static equipment) design deliverables.
- Provide input to the preparation of Technical Work Practices (TWP’s) and Standards.
- Support planning, scheduling and execution of discipline activities and deliverables, including manhour estimating and schedule preparation.
- Identify areas of concern with respect to progress and quality and recommend corrective actions.
- Attend weekly internal and external progress meetings and generate status reports.
- Ensure all team members are competency assessed and maintain competency in line with requirements.
- Define minimum acceptance criteria and undertake pre-qualification of third parties.
- Liaise with licensors, equipment vendors, and OEMs to finalize project deliverables and budget costs.
- Define scope of work for 3rd party subcontracts as required.
- Prepare Tender Bid Evaluations and assess bids.
- Review vendor documents on detailed engineering projects.
- Provide input to EPC scope of work and EPC Tender Package for EXECUTE stage.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure no conflicts within overall engineering design.
- Provide technical support to site for material inspection, Factory Acceptance Testing, etc.
- Ensure compliance with management of change processes, both technical and financial.
- Provide direction and guidance on technical queries relating to mechanical engineering.
- Participate in project safety and design reviews.
- Ensure work is completed without compromising quality and within project schedule.
- Liaise with Client’s Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance staff for project consistency.
- Take ownership for risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and close out.
- Promote safe behavior at all times.
- Provide technical advice and solutions to diverse problems within the discipline.
- Promote smarter ways of working and continuous improvement.
- Ensure lessons learnt are captured and shared.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in Oil and Gas industry.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar role, preferably in UAE or Middle East.
- Specialist knowledge of major mechanical equipment types.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant international codes and standards.
- Experience in EPC/EPCM Oil & Gas projects within the upstream sector.
- Experience in wellhead development projects and facilities.
- Previous experience working on ADNOC projects.
