Job description
Senior Welding & Fabrication Technician responsible for performing and supervising all types of welding procedures and fabrication works across refinery site and workshop environments. The role involves interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, sketches, and field data to execute fabrication and welding tasks on various materials and equipment including heat exchangers, vessels, heaters, boilers, turbines, pumps, castings, and other special refinery equipment. The position includes arranging consumables, tools, equipment, and permits required for job execution. The technician supervises contractor manpower including welders, fabricators, pipe fitters, scaffolders, and insulators to ensure safe execution of work in compliance with procedures and refinery safety requirements. The role requires ensuring maintenance and repair activities are conducted on refinery stationary and rotating equipment, supporting workshop fabrication operations, and resolving operational problems during fabrication and repair activities. The position ensures adherence to safety standards, operational procedures, and quality requirements while coordinating multi-discipline workforce activities within oil and gas and petrochemical environments.

Key responsibilities
- Perform welding procedures on refinery and industrial equipment
- Execute fabrication works based on engineering drawings and specifications
- Supervise contractor workforce including welders, fabricators, pipe fitters, scaffolders, and insulators
- Prepare and arrange consumables, tools, and equipment required for work execution
- Ensure permits and job preparations are completed prior to work activities
- Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and field data for fabrication tasks
- Carry out repair and maintenance of refinery equipment including vessels, heat exchangers, heaters, boilers, turbines, and pumps
- Ensure safe execution of welding and fabrication activities at site and workshop
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with procedures
- Resolve technical and operational issues during workshop activities
- Coordinate fabrication and welding tasks in line with refinery operational requirements
Experience & skills
- Minimum 8 years of experience in construction or oil & gas / petrochemical environment
- Minimum 12 years of school education
- Formal certification in fabrication and/or welding
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or Higher National Diploma (preferred)
- Ability to supervise multi-discipline contractor workforce
- Good command of English (spoken and written)
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Problem-solving ability in workshop and fabrication environments
- Knowledge of refinery equipment and maintenance practices
