Job description
Woodâs Oil, Gas & New Energies business seeks a Senior Cost Control Engineer. The role develops contractual requirements for cost control and estimation, invoicing of payments and variations to be embedded in FEED, PMC, and EPC Agreements and incorporated into tender documents/agreements; evaluates technical bids (PMC, FEED, EPC) for compliance, issues clarifications to bidders, and prepares the relevant portions of the Technical Evaluation Report and final contract documents after incorporating bulletins and clarifications; evaluates contractor variation requests/claims, performs in-depth analysis of all cost-related submissions from consultants, prepares counter-estimates using contractual unit rate schedules, and recommends approvals; prepares AFE/AFOU for ongoing projects; coordinates with Project Control Managers across all PMCs to enforce Project Control Procedures and requirements for successful implementation; and ensures charges of costs to correct account codes. Key responsibilities
- Develop contractual requirements for cost control, estimation, and invoicing of payments and variations for inclusion in FEED, PMC, and EPC Agreements and tender packages
- Evaluate technical bids (PMC, FEED, EPC) for compliance with specified requirements and issue clarifications to bidders
- Prepare the cost-control and contracts portions of the Technical Evaluation Report and finalize related contract documents after integrating all bulletins and clarifications
- Evaluate contractor variation requests and claims, perform in-depth analysis of cost submissions, prepare counter-estimates using contractual unit rates, and recommend management actions
- Prepare AFE/AFOU for all ongoing projects to secure management approvals
- Coordinate with Project Control Managers across PMCs to ensure adherence to Project Control Procedures throughout project execution
- Ensure all cost charges are allocated to correct budget and account codes to maintain financial integrity
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor of Engineering in a related discipline
- Bring a minimum of 15 years of Oil & Gas industry experience, including at least 5 years in a similar senior cost control role
- Demonstrate mandatory experience on ADNOC projects
- Show proven capability across cost control and estimation, bid evaluation, contract documentation, variation analysis, counter-estimate preparation, and project controls procedures
