Job description
The Operations Lead role, also referred to as Operations Director, is a senior leadership position based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, within a fast-growing UAE-based e-commerce grocery company. The role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the e-commerce business, ensuring efficient and effective functioning across all operational verticals, including supply chain, inventory management, logistics, warehousing, fulfillment, customer service, quality control, technology systems, cost management, and risk management. The position plays a pivotal role in driving operational strategy and planning to support business objectives and growth targets, continuously assessing and enhancing operational processes to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The Operations Lead ensures adequate stock levels and optimizes the supply chain to meet customer demand, manages logistics and fulfillment operations to guarantee timely and accurate product delivery, and optimizes delivery processes to minimize costs and enhance customer satisfaction. The role leads the customer service function to deliver exceptional support, implements strategies to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty, establishes and maintains quality control processes to ensure high product and service standards, and addresses quality-related issues promptly. The position is also accountable for recruiting, mentoring, and managing a high-performing operations team while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement. Additionally, the role identifies and implements technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency, collaborates with IT and software development teams to integrate e-commerce platforms and tools, develops and manages the operations budget, monitors and controls operational expenses, identifies and mitigates operational risks, develops contingency plans for business continuity, defines and monitors KPIs, and provides regular performance reports to senior management. The role supports the company’s mission of delivering service excellence, building lasting customer relationships, and scaling operations in a high-growth grocery e-commerce environment.

- Develop and implement the company’s operational strategy to support overall business objectives and growth targets
- Continuously assess, enhance, and optimize operational processes to drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness across e-commerce operations
- Ensure adequate stock levels and optimize supply chain and inventory management to meet customer demand
- Manage logistics, warehousing, and order fulfillment operations to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products
- Optimize delivery processes to minimize operational costs and enhance customer satisfaction
- Lead and manage the customer service team to provide exceptional support and resolve customer inquiries and issues
- Implement customer service strategies to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty
- Establish, maintain, and monitor quality control processes to ensure high product and service quality standards
- Address and resolve quality-related issues promptly and effectively
- Recruit, mentor, develop, and manage a high-performing operations team
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement within the operations function
- Identify, evaluate, and implement technology solutions and operational systems to enhance efficiency
- Collaborate with IT and software development teams to integrate e-commerce platforms and operational tools
- Develop, manage, and optimize the operations budget while monitoring and controlling operational expenses
- Identify operational risks and challenges and implement mitigation and contingency plans to ensure business continuity
- Define, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Prepare and provide regular operational performance reports to senior management
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in business, Operations Management, or a related field, with a Master’s degree preferred
- Possess more than 10 years of progressive operations management experience in e-commerce or a related industry
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of supply chain management, logistics, warehousing, and fulfillment processes
- Exhibit proven leadership and team management experience in leading large or complex operations teams
- Show proficiency in data analysis and the use of operational software tools to support decision-making
- Demonstrate experience in operational strategy development and execution within an e-commerce environment
- Possess hands-on expertise in quality control, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Demonstrate experience with technology and systems integration, including collaboration with IT and software development teams
- Show strong ability to manage budgets, control costs, and optimize resource allocation
- Demonstrate capability to identify and mitigate operational risks and develop contingency and business continuity plans
- Exhibit strong analytical abilities to define, monitor, and interpret KPIs for operational performance management
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing business needs, priorities, and a fast-paced, high-growth e-commerce environment
