Job description
The Senior Commercial Manager role at AtkinsRéalis is responsible for delivering pre and post contract commercial support across newly awarded high-profile projects spanning multiple sectors and locations. The position involves comprehensive commercial management including management of bonds, insurances, and guarantee logs, review of interim valuations and payment certificates, and execution of change management processes. The role requires reviewing variations, preparing commercial recommendations, and supporting preparation and review of cost estimates for building and infrastructure projects. The Senior Commercial Manager will assist in risk and value management, cost control functions, identification and analysis of commercial risks, and development of mitigation responses. The position involves preparation of progress and cost reports, reporting to the Project Director on all commercial issues, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The role also requires attendance and representation at commercial meetings and oversight of cost, commercial, and procurement functions. Candidates must hold a degree in Quantity Surveying, possess minimum 15+ years of experience in pre and post-contract commercial management including change management, and hold MRICS certification. The role requires experience in measurement and quantification of building and infrastructure works, cost estimating of building and infrastructure elements, and prior experience working with FIDIC Contracts. The candidate must have broad project experience including Roads and Infrastructure, consultant and/or client background for at least three years, and minimum five years Middle East experience. Knowledge of QS software such as Cost-X or similar tools is preferred. The role also requires strong QAQC reviewing skills, experience managing teams, client-facing exposure, strong English technical writing ability, and experience within local market environments.

Key responsibilities
- Provide pre and post contract commercial support across building and infrastructure projects including review of contractual obligations, commercial deliverables, and compliance with project commercial strategies
- Manage bonds, insurances, and guarantee logs while ensuring documentation accuracy and alignment with contractual and commercial requirements
- Review interim valuations and payment certificates to ensure accuracy, compliance with contract terms, and timely financial processing
- Execute change management processes including reviewing variations, preparing commercial recommendations, and managing change control procedures
- Prepare and review cost estimates for building and infrastructure elements while supporting value engineering and cost optimization initiatives
- Assist in risk and value management, cost control functions, and identification, analysis, and mitigation of commercial risks across projects
- Prepare progress and cost reports, monitor financial performance, and report commercial issues directly to the Project Director
- Attend and represent the organization at commercial meetings while supporting procurement, cost management, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
Experience & skills
- Hold a Degree in Quantity Surveying from a recognized University with MRICS certification mandatory
- Possess minimum 15+ years of experience in pre and post-contract commercial management including change management and commercial processes
- Demonstrate experience in measurement and quantification of building and infrastructure works and cost estimating for infrastructure and building elements
- Show proven experience working with FIDIC Contracts and commercial contract administration
- Possess project experience across Roads and Infrastructure sectors with broad exposure to building and infrastructure projects
- Demonstrate minimum 5 years Middle East experience with knowledge of local market conditions
- Show experience managing teams, client-facing responsibilities, and consultant or client background for minimum 3 years
- Demonstrate proficiency in QS software such as Cost-X or similar tools along with strong QAQC reviewing skills and English technical writing capabilities
