Job description
The Director, Islamic Origination manages Islamic origination for flow business primarily in KSA and across assigned GCC markets, working within Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) to support the Global Islamic Banking strategy and ensure alignment with group and country strategies. The role drives business objectives for Saadiq Islamic banking by achieving financial and non-financial KPIs, monitoring business performance, enhancing brand awareness and sales of CIB Saadiq products and improving the client value proposition. Responsibilities include exploring partnership opportunities for Saadiq products, tracking competitor activity, creating counter strategies aligned with Islamic Shariah guidelines and regulatory requirements, and ensuring adherence to governance, operational risk and credit policies as well as ERM and ORF frameworks. The position supports implementation of Shariah governance requirements, monitors Islamic banking performance for senior management, and ensures compliance with regulatory frameworks. The role interacts with key stakeholders including CIB corporate teams, Group Islamic Product teams, Saadiq Governance and Control forums, Shariah committees, regulators, industry associations and internal teams such as Legal, Operations, FM and Transaction Banking. Additional responsibilities include embedding the Groupās values and brand, managing responsibilities assigned under Group and Country policies and building strong stakeholder relationships across Saadiq countries. Qualifications include a bachelorās degree, experience in banking and finance (Islamic preferred) across Corporate & Institutional Banking in KSA and GCC, local market contacts for origination, knowledge of Islamic products and Shariah-compliant offerings, and training as required by the bank, industry or regulators. English fluency is required and Arabic is a plus.

- Work with Islamic Origination CIB team to achieve Global Islamic Banking strategy in alignment with group and geography strategies
- Play a proactive role in meeting business objectives of Saadiq Islamic banking and achieving financial and non-financial KPIs
- Monitor business performance to drive productivity and growth of CIB Saadiq
- Assist in developing campaigns to enhance brand awareness and sales of CIB Saadiq products
- Enhance solutions and client value propositions for Saadiq CIB products
- Explore opportunities to establish partnerships and alliances for CIB Saadiq products
- Track competitor activities and develop counter strategies aligned with Islamic Shariah guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Adhere to internal policies related to governance, operational risk and credit
- Ensure adherence to ERM and ORF processes and implement policies and control standards set by risk owners
- Monitor and update senior management on Islamic banking performance
- Maintain awareness of regulatory frameworks and regulatory expectations relevant to the role
- Deliver effective governance and work with regulators in an open and cooperative manner
- Adhere to Shariah Governance Framework requirements and implement Shariah and governance requirements set by Shariah and regulators
- Work with stakeholders including CIB corporate teams, Group Islamic Product teams, Saadiq governance forums, Shariah committees, regulators and industry associations
- Embed the Groupās brand and values across business activities
- Develop strong stakeholder relationships across Saadiq countries
- Perform additional responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies
Experience & skills
- Hold a bachelorās degree
- Have experience in banking and finance (Islamic preferred) across Corporate & Institutional Banking in KSA and GCC
- Possess local market corporate contacts to originate or facilitate origination
- Demonstrate corporate banking experience relevant to Islamic origination
- Have knowledge of Islamic products and Shariah-compliant offerings
- Complete training as required by the bank, industry and regulators
- Be fluent in English with Arabic language ability considered an advantage
