Job description
The System Support Engineer role is part of the Customer Support Team and is responsible for providing hands-on technical support for Trapeze transportation software and hardware products used by a major government organization in the United Arab Emirates. The position reports to the Team Lead, Customer Support – Trapeze Group Middle East, and delivers daily operational support by maintaining customer systems, monitoring application and hardware performance, investigating incidents, tracking issues, and managing testing and deployment of software changes and new releases. The role also provides extended technical support for project implementations led by the Professional Services Manager, ensuring customer satisfaction through proactive support, SLA compliance, and adherence to project timelines. The position covers installation, upgrade, maintenance, and monitoring of transportation systems including Taxi Systems, E-Hailer, AVM, ITS, and AFC platforms, along with on-site troubleshooting, Mobile Data Terminal installations, and customer site visits. In addition, the role manages database administration and reporting functions including SQL Server maintenance, backups, performance tuning, ETL processes, SSRS reporting, and BI dashboards using Qlik, Power BI, and Tableau. The role requires expertise in Windows and Linux environments, scripting for maintenance and deployments, ITIL-based incident and change management processes, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve system reliability, performance, and customer experience.

Key responsibilities
- Install, upgrade, and maintain transportation systems and IT applications
- Monitor Taxi Systems, E-Hailer, AVM, ITS, and AFC platforms to ensure SLA compliance and system uptime
- Provide on-site technical support including troubleshooting and Mobile Data Terminal installations
- Respond to customer incidents within agreed SLAs and ensure timely resolution
- Document all support activities in accordance with Trapeze processes and standards
- Conduct customer site visits to diagnose and resolve operational and technical issues
- Support implementation projects in collaboration with the Professional Services Manager
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver system improvements and operational enhancements
- Administer MS SQL Server including installation, backups, recovery, security, and performance optimization
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and schema objects
- Build and maintain SSRS reports and operational dashboards
- Manage ETL processes to ensure accurate data integration and transformation
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Possess a minimum of 4–5 years of hands-on experience in technical support roles
- Demonstrate experience supporting transportation application services including ITS and taxi management solutions
- Exhibit experience providing application and hardware support for embedded systems
- Demonstrate strong expertise in Windows and Linux system administration
- Show experience creating maintenance and deployment scripts in Windows and Linux environments
- Demonstrate experience following ITIL processes for incident, change, and release management
- Exhibit expertise in MS SQL, Qlik, Power BI, and Tableau for database administration and reporting
