Job description
The Director of Engineer for OMRAN Group’s hospitality portfolio is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and engineering operations across multiple properties, with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection. The role involves managing budgets, capital expenditure, preventative maintenance programs, and energy conservation strategies. The director ensures compliance with regulatory standards, supervises long-term asset protection plans, and leads emergency response teams. This leadership role requires technical expertise in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems as well as strong skills in financial management, vendor relations, and staff development.

Key responsibilities
- Manage the budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation for hospitality properties.
- Oversee engineering operations including HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
- Ensure fire crews and staff understand procedures, alarms, and equipment.
- Administer service contracts to support property needs.
- Develop and manage engineering strategies aligned with brand and property goals.
- Implement long-term preventative maintenance and 10-year asset protection plans.
- Review financial reports to monitor engineering performance against budget.
- Supervise construction projects to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
- Maintain compliance with state, local, and federal regulations.
- Ensure life safety systems, building permits, and certifications are current.
- Oversee profitability by monitoring payroll, operating statements, and departmental expenses.
- Participate in capital budgeting and prepare regular P&L critiques.
- Develop and sustain coworker and customer relationships in line with service standards.
- Provide guidance and feedback to staff, ensuring training and talent development.
- Lead emergency response for facility issues.
- Resolve guest complaints and ensure ongoing communication across engineering teams.
Experience & skills
- High school diploma or GED with 6 years’ experience in engineering/maintenance, OR 2-year degree with 4 years’ relevant experience.
- Technical training in HVAC-R/Electrical/Plumbing.
- Experience in managing engineering and maintenance operations in hospitality or related fields.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance, safety systems, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong financial management skills including budget preparation and P&L oversight.
- Ability to supervise construction and maintenance projects.
- Leadership and adaptability to manage change and drive results.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of building and safety codes, emergency systems, hazardous materials handling, HVAC, water treatment, and energy management.
- Basic computer literacy and mathematical reasoning.
