Job description
The Business Finance Manager role supports corporate control departments in all finance-related matters, with primary accountability for financial and strategic planning, monitoring variances against budget and forecasts, evaluating opportunities, risks, and efficiencies, and implementing effective cost control measures. The role provides value-added, meaningful, and insightful financial reporting and analysis to Senior Management, presenting an objective view of the financial position and offering sound recommendations for efficient resource allocation aligned with business goals. The position leads the preparation, execution, and analysis of budgets and rolling forecasts, monitors monthly expenditure variances, investigates significant deviations, and initiates corrective control actions. The role drives strategic business decisions by leading investment allocation analysis, developing comprehensive and structured business cases for proposed projects, assessing costs, benefits, scope, dependencies, risks, and alignment with strategic objectives. Responsibilities extend to KPI performance reporting, internal control reviews, enhancements to costing processes, systems improvements and automation, preparation of policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Internal Accounting Procedures (IAPs), balance sheet account reviews, financial schedules preparation, inventory discrepancy analysis, project capitalization, audit support, cost center performance reviews, and continuous coordination with subordinates and senior management. The role operates within Qatar Airways Groupās Corporate & Commercial job family and contributes to a high-performance finance environment supporting large-scale, multi-business operations.

Key responsibilities
- Present an objective view of the financial situation and provide recommendations for efficient resource allocation to achieve business goals
- Monitor monthly expenditure variances against budget and forecasts and ensure expenditures remain aligned with approved plans
- Investigate significant variances and implement necessary financial control actions
- Lead the preparation, execution, and analysis of budgets and rolling forecasts
- Drive strategic investment allocation by developing structured business cases covering cost, benefits, scope, dependencies, risks, and strategic alignment
- Evaluate opportunities, risks, and efficiencies by providing accurate and sufficient financial information
- Report on KPI performance for assigned departments and cost centers
- Review internal controls and recommend enhancements to strengthen financial governance
- Prepare and present business cases to the Cost Management Committee (CMC)
- Enhance costing processes and support development-related financial changes
- Improve financial systems and automations on an ongoing basis
- Draft and submit Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Internal Accounting Procedures (IAPs) within defined timelines
- Conduct monthly cost center reviews with department heads and present financial performance results
- Review balance sheet accounts and prepare monthly financial schedules
- Oversee inventory reviews, analyze discrepancies, and report root causes
- Ensure completed projects are capitalized promptly with appropriate documentation and reconciliations
- Respond to internal and external audit requirements within defined timelines
- Support senior management with routine and ad-hoc financial requests
- Maintain task tracking, monitor deliverable timelines and quality, and report progress
- Train and develop graduate developees under the nationalization program
- Coordinate regular follow-ups with subordinates and ensure proper handover documentation during leave periods
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelorās Degree or equivalent qualification
- Possess a minimum of 6 years of job-related experience in finance or corporate control
- Demonstrate expertise in costing methodologies and cost reduction techniques
- Exhibit strong knowledge of cost centre accounting, budget preparation, and forecasting
- Show proficiency in financial reporting, variance analysis, and KPI performance monitoring
- Maintain solid understanding of internal finance systems, internal controls, and audit processes
- Ensure strict confidentiality of financial records and information
