Job description
GEMS Founders School â Al Mizhar is hiring a School Operations Manager to oversee the development, safety, and smooth day-to-day running of the schoolâs facilities, administration, and support services. The role ensures the site, buildings, and resources are secure, efficient, and aligned with operational excellence while contributing strategically to the schoolâs long-term success. The post holder will work closely with the Principal/CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Corporate Office to provide expert guidance on business, financial, and operational matters, ensuring budgets are optimized, services delivered at high quality, and compliance with health, safety, and safeguarding regulations. This role also promotes community and commercial engagement through events, conferences, and ancillary services.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic guidance to Principal/CEO and Senior Leadership on operational, financial, and business matters
- Contribute to the schoolâs improvement plan and sustainability goals
- Lead initiatives for environmental sustainability and operational efficiency
- Organize and manage administration and support services, including recruitment, training, and staff development
- Ensure service excellence and accountability across support teams
- Manage budgets, monitor expenditure, and prepare financial reports and forecasts
- Ensure compliance with Delegation of Authority and audit requirements
- Oversee third-party service providers and ensure contractual obligations are met
- Supervise maintenance, security, and efficient operation of school facilities
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and safeguarding regulations
- Manage preventative and reactive maintenance schedules
- Supervise cleaning, waste management, energy usage, catering, transportation, and accommodation services
- Promote safe parking, secure access, and effective use of CCTV and security systems
- Promote facilities for events, conferences, and community activities
- Oversee ancillary services such as catering, school shop, and after-school activities
- Strengthen community relationships by ensuring high-quality services and a welcoming school environment
Experience & skills
- Masterâs degree
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations, facilities, or business management (preferably in education)
- Proven leadership, organizational, and people management skills
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and contracts
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and resolve issues proactively
- Commitment to health, safety, safeguarding, and sustainability standards
