Job description
Aramco Minerals, part of the Upstream Business Line, is looking for new mineral deposits to drive future growth, and this Senior Exploration Minerals Geologist acts as a technical advisor to the team finding and evaluating them. Exploration programmes combine geological, geophysical and geochemical methods, from remote sensing and airborne surveys to ground investigations, with targets prioritised on economic viability. Mineral System concepts, crustal evolution, regional structural geology and basin modelling guide play identification, and sediment-hosted mineralisation experience is part of the brief. Drilling campaigns for exploration, infill and extension are planned and executed, with sampling of soil, rock and core advised on. Metallurgical testing reveals ore characteristics, mineralogy and extractability, which feed deposit models, reserve estimates and mining method selection. GIS and 3D modelling software support the analysis, and QA/QC protocols protect data quality. Some fieldwork in remote locations is expected, alongside reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders and guidance for junior team members. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in geology or geological engineering and around 15 years of experience, including 5 to 10 in mineral exploration, with an MSc and PGeo or RPGeo registration highly preferred. Publications, patents or mentoring contributions to the minerals industry are expected.
