Job description
Serve as Telecommunication Engineer within Saipem Qatarās Engineering Fixed Facilities Department, supporting the Telecommunication and Instrumentation Manager. Execute design, checking, validation, and testing of telecommunication systems while ensuring compliance with QA/QC and HSE requirements. Coordinate with project specialists, designers, and subcontracted engineers. Participate in feasibility studies, bidding, and cost estimation for telecommunication systems. Provide technical support to project teams, optimizing system design for cost-efficiency and compliance with safety and contractual requirements. Prepare technical documentation, equipment datasheets, functional specifications, and vendor BOQ validation. Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and functional checks. Support construction and commissioning teams with site engineering, technical guidance, and problem resolution, ensuring the successful delivery of telecommunication systems for fixed facility projects.

Key responsibilities
- Perform project technical tasks including design, checking, validation, testing, and engineering of telecommunication systems assigned by the Discipline Lead.
- Interface and coordinate with other project team specialists and designers to ensure alignment and effective execution of telecommunication activities.
- Coordinate technical activities performed in-house or via subcontractors, ensuring compliance with QA/QC and HSE requirements.
- Develop telecommunication system quantities for cost and erection work estimates, and support man-hour and cost estimation processes.
- Review client technical documentation and requirements, prepare technical documentation for material and service requisitions, and ensure design basis and guidelines are defined.
- Validate vendor BOQs, prepare telecommunication equipment data sheets, and coordinate detail engineering activities to define proper installation drawings.
- Participate in FAT and vendor workshops to ensure quality and compliance of telecommunication systems.
- Provide technical support to construction teams during site acceptance tests, functional checks, and commissioning phases.
- Optimize telecommunication systems design to minimize cost and complexity while complying with contractual and safety requirements.
- Support the preparation of functional specifications, ensuring systems meet operational and project requirements.
Experience & skills
- Masterās degree in Telecommunication Engineering (preferable).
- Minimum of 5 years EPC experience in telecommunication and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in English.
- Strong knowledge of telecommunication systems, design criteria, and guidelines.
- Familiarity with EPC company processes and procedures.
- Experience in bidding methodologies, standard codes, and regulations.
- Proficient in 2D and 3D modeling and electronic document system management.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to provide technical support and coordination during project execution, construction, and commissioning.
- Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.
