Job description
The Drilling Services Applications Engineer role, based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, focuses on delivering flawless execution across pre-planning, job execution, and post-job analysis within well construction operations. The position collaborates closely with Service Delivery Coordinators and sales teams to understand client well construction and production objectives, design optimal well profiles, and develop risk mitigation and contingency plans. The engineer ensures compliance with the Manage the Job Cycle (MtJC) process, supports field incident investigations, and provides product application recommendations to maximize revenue and ensure future business opportunities. The role requires strong technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and the flexibility to travel to rig sites and be on call as needed.

Key responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with the Manage the Job Cycle (MtJC) process throughout project execution.
- Collaborate with Service Delivery Coordinators and Sales teams to understand client well construction or production objectives.
- Design well profiles and execute application engineering tasks, including risk mitigation and contingency planning.
- Provide technical sales support and recommend product applications aligned with customer objectives and revenue goals.
- Support field operations, address product/service-related incidents, and participate in incident investigations when required.
- Coordinate across organizational boundaries to ensure all technical constraints and operational considerations are addressed.
- Contribute to post-job analysis to enhance performance, reduce risk, and optimize future operations.
- Travel to rig sites, customer facilities, and meetings as required to support field activities.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
- At least 3+ years of application engineering experience within well construction.
- Strong understanding of P&L and technical job planning requirements.
- Ability to manage, develop, coach, and mentor teams across organizational boundaries.
- Willingness to travel frequently to rig sites and customer locations.
- Ability to be on call outside normal business hours.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
