Job description
The Assistant Manager – Meethaq Retail Asset Products role at Bank Muscat’s Islamic banking division (Meethaq) in Oman is responsible for supporting the Unit Head – Retail Assets & Cards in the development, management, and optimization of Islamic retail asset products within Central Bank of Oman regulations and Sharia-compliant banking principles. The role involves managing the full lifecycle of retail asset products including secured and unsecured financing solutions, ensuring optimal product mix across customer segments, and driving product innovation aligned with market demand, competitor activity, and organizational risk appetite. The position requires designing and implementing retail product strategies, managing policies and procedures, improving turnaround times (TAT), and optimizing acquisition processes across multiple distribution channels such as branches, digital platforms, call centers, ATMs, and direct marketing. The role includes ownership of product profitability through P&L management, development of campaigns and promotional programs, and ensuring strong customer acquisition and retention strategies. It also involves building MIS and data analytics capabilities to support monthly performance reviews, coordinating approvals with internal committees, IT, operations, Sharia supervisory boards, and regulators, and ensuring compliance with Islamic banking requirements. The Assistant Manager is expected to enhance product positioning, improve customer experience, manage vendor relationships, and support training and capability building across internal teams while ensuring continuous improvement of retail asset offerings.

Key responsibilities
- Support the Unit Head in managing end-to-end retail asset product development and lifecycle management including policies, procedures, turnaround time (TAT), acquisition processes, and product performance optimization within Islamic banking guidelines
- Develop and execute retail product strategies by identifying market opportunities, analyzing competitor activity, assessing risk appetite, and creating product mixes targeting diverse customer segments across secured and unsecured lending products
- Design, implement, and manage retail asset product innovations including new product development, features, benefits, pricing structures, campaigns, and promotional offerings to drive customer acquisition and retention
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including management, product committees, IT, operations, Sharia supervisory board, and regulators to obtain necessary approvals and ensure compliant product implementation
- Manage product portfolio performance including revenue optimization, profitability tracking, and full P&L responsibility to achieve annual financial targets and strategic business objectives
- Develop and execute multi-channel acquisition and marketing strategies across branches, digital platforms, ATMs, sales outlets, and direct marketing channels to maximize customer reach and product penetration
- Build and maintain MIS reporting and data analytics frameworks to support monthly performance reviews, track product KPIs, and provide insights for strategic decision-making and product improvement
- Oversee training and capability development programs for branches, call centers, and operational teams to ensure proper product knowledge, consistent service delivery, and enhanced customer experience
Experience & skills
- Demonstrate 5–7 years of experience in retail finance products with strong exposure to banking product management, preferably within Islamic banking environments
- Exhibit at least 5 years of experience working in retail banking within an Islamic bank with strong understanding of Sharia principles and compliance requirements
- Show strong knowledge of retail asset products including secured and unsecured lending, product lifecycle management, risk factors, and turnaround time (TAT) optimization
- Demonstrate experience in developing retail banking products, campaigns, policies, procedures, and customer acquisition strategies across multiple distribution channels
- Possess strong understanding of Profit and Loss (P&L) management, revenue optimization, and product performance tracking within banking environments
- Exhibit strong analytical skills and ability to build MIS reporting systems and perform data analysis to support management reporting and decision-making
- Demonstrate leadership, communication, and presentation skills with ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders including regulators and internal committees
- Show strong knowledge of Islamic banking principles (Sharia compliance), along with ability to ensure adherence to regulatory and governance frameworks in product design and execution
