Job description
The Deskside Support Engineer provides end-to-end support for IT hardware and software, ensuring optimal functionality and usability of desktop, laptop, and manufacturing IT devices. Working in hybrid environments, the engineer supports deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and incident resolution for Windows, MacOS, iOS devices, and peripherals. This role involves asset management, vendor coordination, and support of specialized manufacturing, lab, and cleanroom IT systems, ensuring compliance with GMP and GxP standards. The engineer contributes to maintaining operational continuity, enhancing end-user experience, and enabling secure, efficient IT operations.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Provide Break-Fix and end-user support for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
- Install and configure hardware and software components to ensure usability
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, including mobility devices and manufacturing IT equipment
- Manage SCCM 2012 and O365 administration tasks
- Support shop-floor handhelds, scanners, rugged tablets, and specialized lab equipment
- Conduct data collection and preservation activities for migrations and eDiscovery
- Provide physical access and technical support for site communication rooms, IDF/MDF/MMR, and data centers
- Assist in power shutdown activities and maintenance for servers and network devices
- Monitor and manage printer usage, coordinating with vendors for service continuity
- Coordinate cable patching and network connectivity troubleshooting
- Manage IT asset lifecycle including collection, storage, labelling, imaging, allocation, and disposal
- Support IT systems in cleanroom, manufacturing, and lab environments in compliance with GMP/GxP
- Communicate and coordinate with multiple teams and OEMs to resolve high-priority issues
- Maintain high standards of quality, attention to detail, and end-user satisfaction
Experience & skills
- Diploma or degree in IT
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in deskside support or end-user IT support
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in Windows OS and Microsoft Office
- Advanced knowledge of MacOS and iOS administration, imaging, and deployment
- Experience supporting printers, scanners, and specialized IT equipment
- Familiarity with networks, telecom, and compute/storage
- Knowledge of GMP and GxP standards and cleanroom/manufacturing environments
- ITIL certification or other relevant IT certifications preferred
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer support skills
- Ability to work in hybrid and fast-paced technical environments
