Job description
Masdar is the UAE’s clean energy champion and one of the largest companies of its kind in the world, advancing the development and deployment of renewable energy and green hydrogen technologies to address global sustainability challenges. Established in 2006, Masdar operates in over 40 countries, helping them achieve their clean energy objectives and advance sustainable development. Masdar is jointly owned by ADNOC, Mubadala, and TAQA, and is targeting a renewable energy portfolio capacity of at least 100 GW and an annual green hydrogen production capacity of up to 1 million tonnes by 2030. The Senior Manager, Project Development will support the Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) stream of clean energy project proposal preparation from planning to execution, ensuring cost-effective and techno-commercial solutions that achieve the lowest LCOE or the highest IRR possible.

Key responsibilities
- Manage up to four active projects at the same time and contribute to the initiation of two projects.
- Support in preparing the bid technical strategy including the shortlisting of the technology for the bid, shortlisting the suppliers for the bid, prudently evaluate the key deviations to be made in order to be competitive.
- Lead the preparation of the EPC request for proposal along with design team.
- Provide assistance and follow up to the supply chain team in preparation of the request for proposal for the key OEMs and participate in discussions, negotiations with OEMs along with supply chain team for techno-commercial aspects.
- Contribute to the EPC competition exercise and manage the EPC proposals preparation process with multiple EPC Contractors.
- Contribute to the interim O&M offer preparations and O&M forecast process with the support of relevant teams.
- Prepare the EPC and O&M terms sheets from a technical/execution perspective with the support of the person/team leading the transaction for commercial/financial inputs.
- Prepare the technical annexes of the EPC contract and contribute to the technical/delivery/execution aspects of the EPC Contract and O&M agreement.
- Guide the EPC contractors on how to reduce the cost by proposing up-to date solutions.
- Contribute to the commercial and technical EPC contract and O&M agreements negotiations.
- Coordinate with the procurement lead and the OEM’s to map the latest technologies and advancement in the main equipment, including but not limited to the PV modules, WTG, Inverter station, tracker solution and etc.
- Review the track record of the main equipment in close coordination with the procurement lead the transaction manager.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team to achieve the most optimum techno-commercial solution, which achieve the lowest LCOE.
- Coordinate with the procurement lead on the inputs of the techno-commercial model and the transaction manager, in preparation of the LCOE analysis.
- Coordinate with the procurement team and engineering team for preparation of the RFP to be shared with main equipment suppliers reflecting the technical specifications of the project.
- Coordinate with the technical advisors, EPC contractors, and local subcontractors on the balance of system cost of the techno-commercial model.
- Work with cross-functional teams for proposal development communicating clear expectations, standards and requirements so that bids and proposals are completed effectively and accurately.
- Manage relations and inputs from stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial, legal and delivery.
- Remain abreast of the latest developments and changes in technologies and main equipment in order to ensure work is always updated and aligned to leading practices.
Experience & skills
- MBA or relevant Master’s degree from a top-tier internationally recognized higher education institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or any other related field.
- 8-10 years of experience in the development of EPC proposals for at least either solar photovoltaics or onshore wind projects including experience working with cross-functional teams and coordinating all the activities among the consortium members, equity partners, EPC contractor, advisors, lenders, O&M contractor etc. or an equivalent experience.
- Experience in drafting, negotiating and closing the annexures of the EPC contract.
- Track record of developing proposals that contribute to the winning of IPP tenders, in conventional energy and/or renewable energy.
- Deep knowledge of the engineering, construction management, technical specifications of solar photovoltaic or wind plus one of the following technologies: solar photovoltaic, onshore wind, CSP and waste to energy technologies.
- Hands on experience in the drafting and negotiations of the technical annexures of the renewable energy technologies.
- Exceptional know-how in the EPC contracts preparation, drafting, negotiations and closure.
- Strong knowledge on the works done by the cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of renewable energy and traditional energy industry.
