Job description
The Financial Operations Consultant at Tap Payments is responsible for supporting day-to-day financial operations while ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with internal financial procedures. The role involves reconciling financial transactions across internal systems, payment gateways, and banking platforms, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting merchant onboarding from a financial risk perspective. Working closely with operations, technical teams, and stakeholders, the consultant helps strengthen internal controls and ensures smooth financial processes across the organization.

Key responsibilities
- Perform daily financial reconciliations between internal systems, payment gateways, and banking records to ensure transaction accuracy
- Maintain financial records and ensure compliance with internal financial policies, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Conduct internal control reviews by reconciling sales captured in operational systems with payment gateway transactions to identify discrepancies
- Review and validate financial aspects of newly onboarded merchants to prevent potential financial risks or operational issues
- Support the implementation and monitoring of internal finance controls to maintain integrity of financial operations
- Participate in cross-functional meetings with operations and technical teams to improve financial processes and implement best practices
- Assist in identifying process gaps and recommending operational improvements to support the company’s growth and scalability
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations and effective communication between teams
- Prepare reports and documentation related to reconciliations, discrepancies, and operational financial reviews
- Carry out additional financial operational tasks and projects as required to support the finance team and business expansion
Experience & skills
- 2–4 years of experience in financial operations, fintech, financial services, or high-growth startup environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred; relevant practical experience may substitute
- Strong understanding of financial reconciliations, payment processing systems, and banking operations
- Knowledge of internal controls, financial compliance practices, and operational financial procedures
- Ability to build strong internal relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to manage tasks effectively and deliver work within deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and ability to interpret financial information accurately
- Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic language proficiency is an advantage
- Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic fintech environment with the ability to adapt to growth and operational changes
