Job description
The Blockchain Development Manager will lead high-impact projects in the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Center of Excellence at Standard Chartered. The role involves designing and deploying enterprise-grade blockchain solutions such as smart contracts and digital asset tokenization, ensuring security, scalability, and compliance with banking regulations. This includes overseeing the full software development life cycle, implementing DevOps best practices, and integrating DLT into enterprise ecosystems while researching emerging technologies. The position requires a strong mix of technical expertise, domain knowledge in fintech, and leadership skills to mentor teams and foster innovation.

Key responsibilities
- Architect and maintain blockchain protocols, smart contracts, and consensus mechanisms.
- Ensure solutions meet security, scalability, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Troubleshoot and optimize DLT systems for performance and reliability.
- Oversee the full SDLC for blockchain projects from coding to production deployment.
- Implement DevOps best practices and enforce code quality through reviews.
- Align solutions with internal controls and global payment regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate DLT into enterprise ecosystems.
- Research emerging trends such as zero-knowledge proofs and P2P networks.
- Pilot new blockchain technologies to enhance capabilities.
Experience & skills
- Hands-on experience with permissioned blockchains such as Quorum, Hyperledger Besu, Hyperledger Fabric, or Corda.
- Experience with public blockchains such as Ethereum.
- Proficiency in Solidity, Python, and Go (Golang).
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
- Experience with cloud deployment (AWS, Microsoft Azure) and infrastructure automation (Terraform, Helm).
- Track record in fintech projects such as RWA tokenization, cross-border payments, or decentralized identity.
- Strong understanding of cryptography and consensus algorithms.
- Ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring teams and promoting continuous learning.
