Job description
The Commercial Manager at Al Futtaim Contracting is responsible for leading the commercial and contractual operations of MEP projects, ensuring alignment with company strategies to reduce risks and maximize opportunities. The role involves overseeing change control, cost reporting, financial oversight, and risk management, while supporting operational departments through synchronized procedures. The manager provides leadership to the Commercial Function, supports bid teams by assessing risks, leads negotiations with stakeholders, and ensures compliance with contractual obligations and internal QHSE policies. The role demands in-depth knowledge of FIDIC contracts and proven experience managing large-scale MEP projects with a main contractor. Key deliverables include effective cost controls, comprehensive financial reporting, and strategic improvements in commercial processes, along with cross-departmental collaboration involving finance, procurement, and auditing teams.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the commercial and contractual aspects of MEP projects, developing effective commercial strategies
- Implement robust change control processes to secure Contract Price adjustments with clients
- Deliver detailed value and cost reports for Business Unit and Project control
- Maintain cost control systems for client transparency and efficiency
- Identify and implement process improvements in project commercial management
- Provide professional leadership and consistency within the Commercial Function
- Support Work Winning teams by assessing and quantifying bid risks
- Lead negotiations with clients, partners, contractors, and sub-contractors
- Monitor Risk Management processes and coordinate with internal audit functions
- Ensure all contractual duties, obligations, and standards are met
- Coordinate commercial activities with finance and procurement departments
- Oversee development of Quarterly and Monthly financial project reports
- Ensure compliance with company QHSE policy and promptly report incidents
Experience & skills
- Hold a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Possess strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts
- Have at least 10 years of experience in core MEP projects, with 3 years in a commercial management role
- Demonstrate proven experience with a main contractor managing commercial activities at the head office level
- Have expertise in industry-standard contract forms, procurement strategies, negotiation, and dispute resolution
- Exhibit leadership skills and ability to manage stress in high-pressure situations
- Show strong communication skills for diverse stakeholder engagement
- Be proficient in logical reasoning and analytical presentation
