Job description
The Assistant Manager – Ground Services (Operational Control) at Red Sea Air Services Company supports the safe, compliant, and efficient coordination of all ground handling functions in alignment with GACAR Part 151. This role serves as the primary operational focal point, overseeing daily aircraft turnaround operations including ramp handling, passenger processing, baggage handling, and surface transport. The mandate includes real-time operational control, resource allocation, disruption management, and cross-department coordination. Compliance with IATA IGOM and AHM standards, as well as adherence to the company’s Ground Operations Manual (GOM Part E), is essential. The role requires strict enforcement of safety protocols, execution of contingency plans, operational reporting under §151.117, and performance tracking via dashboards. Additionally, it involves ensuring on-time performance (98%), full adherence to SOPs and SLAs, audit readiness, and team competency under regulatory training matrices (GACAR Part 68, §151.73). The role demands in-depth regulatory knowledge, proficiency in ground service operations, and capability in data-driven performance reporting, while ensuring passenger satisfaction levels ≥ 90% and maintaining effective internal and external stakeholder communication.

Key responsibilities
- Support the execution of certified ground handling services in compliance with approved operations specifications
- Monitor and manage real-time status of all aircraft ground operations (arrival, turnaround, departure)
- Ensure allocation of manpower, ground service equipment, and support resources per daily operations plan
- Coordinate operations across ramp, passenger services, baggage handling, and surface transport teams
- Enforce safety procedures and apron discipline as per GACAR and internal policies
- Act as the operational focal point during service disruptions and activate contingency procedures
- Document operational occurrences and contribute to root cause analysis under §151.117
- Support training delivery and recurrent checks with the Training Post-Holder
- Represent operational control in audits and safety reviews
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and log entries in line with the operations manual
- Achieve 98% on-time performance for all flights through preplanned operational coordination
- Ensure 100% adherence to SOPs, GACA requirements, and internal safety standards during audits
- Deploy manpower and equipment efficiently to minimize delays and meet SLAs
- Lead or support incident response and document actions for Level 1 and Level 2 occurrences
- Ensure team training and certification compliance as per training matrix
- Maintain effective communication across departments and regulatory bodies
- Maintain and utilize a real-time operational dashboard for delay mitigation and safety monitoring
- Develop and conduct semi-annual drills for contingency plans across key functions
- Produce monthly operational performance reports with analysis on key performance areas
- Coordinate with other teams to ensure smooth operations and zero disconnects
- Conduct quarterly skill assessments and recommend refresher training as needed
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, Airport Operations, or a related field preferred
- Be at least 28 years old
- Have a minimum of 5 years experience in airport or ground operations with 2 years in supervisory or control center role
- Demonstrate experience in ground handling, FBO, or boutique terminal operations
- Possess in-depth knowledge of GACAR Part 151, IATA IGOM/AHM standards, and apron safety
- Be proficient in load control coordination, aircraft turnarounds, and irregular operations
- Have excellent command of English; Arabic is an advantage
- Be computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Possess strong communication skills and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive issues
- Be willing to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
- Have excellent customer service and a strong work ethic
