Job description
The SHE Manager (Safety, Health & Environment Manager) role within SLB Production Chemical business in the MENA region, based in Dubai, UAE, is responsible for providing regional leadership, direction, and governance of all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities. The role ensures alignment of HSE strategies, policies, and programs with business objectives while reinforcing SLB’s global safety culture known as SLB Safe. The position involves collaborating with regional and business leadership teams to design, develop, and implement HSE strategies, initiatives, and programs across multiple business units. The SHE Manager ensures compliance with SLB Safety Management Systems and international standards including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. The role is responsible for developing and reviewing HSE policies, procedures, standards, and best practices, ensuring consistency across regional operations. The position includes conducting facility inspections to identify potential hazards, implementing corrective and preventive actions, and ensuring closure of safety findings. The SHE Manager oversees incident reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis, ensuring corrective actions are tracked and implemented effectively. The role also supports emergency response and crisis management planning across facilities and ensures readiness for operational incidents. The position is responsible for managing HSE training programs, ensuring compliance with training requirements and fostering continuous improvement in safety awareness. The SHE Manager interfaces with regulatory bodies, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure legal compliance, support customer requirements, and provide HSE documentation for tenders and pre-qualification processes. The role involves monitoring HSE performance metrics, analyzing trends, and communicating results to senior management and stakeholders. Additionally, the position leads internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and maintaining certifications. The SHE Manager also manages HSE budgets, oversees regional coordination of safety programs, and ensures harmonization of HSE practices across business units while promoting a strong safety-first culture throughout the organization.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain regional HSE strategies, policies, and programs aligned with SLB business objectives and safety culture
- Lead design and review of HSE policies, procedures, standards, and systems in compliance with SLB Safety Management System and ISO standards
- Conduct facility inspections to identify safety and environmental hazards and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Manage incident reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis, ensuring corrective actions are tracked to closure
- Support emergency response and crisis management planning across regional facilities and business units
- Facilitate and monitor HSE training programs ensuring compliance with organizational safety training requirements
- Provide HSE support for customer pre-qualifications, bids, tenders, and regulatory questionnaires
- Coordinate and conduct internal and external HSE audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards
- Monitor HSE performance metrics, trends, and reporting to senior management and stakeholders
- Manage HSE budgets and oversee cost control and expenditure related to safety programs
- Act as liaison with regulatory authorities, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with legal and business requirements
- Coordinate regional HSE programs and harmonize safety practices across multiple business units
- Lead HSE Council and Safety Champion Network engagement activities and communication programs
Experience & skills
- Hold NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent qualification in HSE management
- Demonstrate minimum 10 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environment roles within industrial or energy sectors
- Demonstrate minimum 2 years of supervisory or managerial responsibility in HSE functions
- Demonstrate experience in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems and auditing processes
- Demonstrate experience in developing and implementing HSE strategies, policies, and safety culture programs
- Demonstrate experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action management
- Demonstrate experience in emergency response planning and crisis management systems
- Demonstrate ability to manage HSE training programs and compliance systems
- Demonstrate strong communication skills with ability to interface with senior management and external stakeholders
- Demonstrate willingness and ability to travel up to 30% across regional operations
