Job description
The Business Development Director at Thunes in Dubai, UAE, is responsible for driving growth by identifying, negotiating, and closing new clients across the region, acting as a strong individual contributor and hands-on leader. The role requires developing and executing sales and business development plans for a specified segment or region, managing the full sales cycle from lead generation to account management, and ensuring client retention and satisfaction. The director will leverage local market expertise to design effective go-to-market strategies, communicate with internal teams to roll out new services, attend trade shows, source leads, and report activity using CRM tools. The position demands strong understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, fintech/payments industry, and mobile financial services, along with excellent networking, communication, and negotiation skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a results-driven environment.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Develop overall sales and business development plan for the region or specified segment
- Manage full sales cycle including hunting for new clients, agreements, account setup, and ongoing management
- Design and execute sales strategies leveraging local market expertise
- Ensure internal coordination and communication for service rollout considering regulatory and market specifics
- Attend trade shows, source leads, follow sales process, and report to sales management team
- Maintain accurate and timely reporting using CRM tools
- Provide performance and strategy feedback to line manager
- Ensure account retention, contractual health, client satisfaction, and effective communication between customers and back office
- Identify industry trends through research of events and announcements
- Maintain effective relationships with clients, partners, third parties, and internal colleagues
Experience & skills
- 10+ years of experience in business development with 5+ years in Money Transfer, Fintech, Payments, or Mobile Financial Services industries
- Hands-on B2B sales experience with industry contacts in fintech/payments
- Proven results-oriented approach with strong communication, organization, and negotiation skills
- Excellent networking abilities
- CRM proficiency, Salesforce CRM knowledge is a plus
- Self-motivated, disciplined, flexible, and ownership-driven
- Team-oriented and adaptable to change
- Strong understanding of customer requirements and market dynamics
- Strong initiative with ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a bonus
