Job description
The Safety & Security Team Leader at IKEA Kuwait is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and security measures within warehouse operations. Leading a team of 7–8 external security agents, the role focuses on preventing workplace accidents, unsafe behaviors, and hazardous situations while guaranteeing compliance with IKEA Kuwait S&S policy, OHS legislation, and emergency procedures. Key responsibilities include enforcing OHS rules, monitoring unsafe conditions, ensuring proper use of PPE, participating in risk assessments, safety drills, and emergency response, controlling warehouse access, supervising vehicle and pedestrian movements, monitoring CCTV, preventing theft or damage, leading and training security agents, acting as a first responder for accidents and security incidents, coordinating emergency responses, securing accident scenes, documenting and reporting incidents, conducting safety and security inspections, supporting audits, and maintaining safety logs. The role demands strong leadership, safety supervision expertise, risk management, and incident handling in warehouse, logistics, or industrial environments.

- Lead and supervise 7–8 external security agents with a safety-first approach
- Enforce Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) rules and safe working procedures across the warehouse
- Monitor and report unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, and near-miss incidents
- Ensure emergency exits, evacuation routes, and fire-fighting equipment are accessible and functional
- Verify proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by employees, contractors, and visitors
- Support implementation of risk assessments and hazard identification (traffic, lifting, racking, fire, machinery)
- Participate in safety drills including fire, evacuation, and emergency response
- Act as first responder for occupational accidents, injuries, fires, chemical spills, and security incidents
- Control access to the warehouse ensuring only authorized and safety-inducted persons enter
- Monitor CCTV and patrol high-risk areas to prevent safety and security concerns
- Prevent theft, shrinkage, damage, and unauthorized handling of goods
- Provide daily safety briefings and shift handovers focusing on current risks and controls
- Act as safety escalation point between warehouse operations, management, and external security provider
- Conduct regular safety and security inspections of warehouse areas, yards, docks, and offices
- Report non-compliance with OHS standards, fire safety rules, and security procedures
- Document, report, and investigate all accidents, near-misses, and safety incidents
- Support corrective and preventive actions following incidents
- Maintain safety-related logs, inspection records, and incident reports
- Support internal and external OHS and security audits
Experience & skills
- 3–5 years experience in safety and/or security roles within warehouse, logistics, retail, or industrial environments
- Proven experience in OHS monitoring, accident prevention, or safety supervision
- Experience supervising external or outsourced teams in safety-critical environments
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Formal training or certification in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, or Risk Prevention (highly desirable)
- Fire Safety, First Aid, or Emergency Response training is a strong advantage
