Job description
The SSE Engineer II role at TechnipFMC provides engineering solutions as part of a Subsea Systems Engineering (SSE) project taskforce in the oil and gas energy industry. The position delivers technically correct and optimized engineering solutions in accordance with TechnipFMC standards, procedures, processes, schedules, budgets, and HSE requirements, with continuous focus on quality, targets, and customer satisfaction. The role provides technical support to internal and external customers for ongoing projects and field operations, performs original design and layout work for new or modified products, and applies extensive knowledge of engineering theory, mathematics, and practical mechanics to solve design and operational problems. The engineer operates across manufacturing, fabrication, installation sites, and onshore office environments, interfaces with multiple engineering and project disciplines, participates in technical negotiations, supports refurbishment and remanufacture activities, conducts design reviews, prepares engineering calculations and documentation through the ECN process, and contributes to HSEQ activities including RCA, HAZOP, and risk assessments. The role also includes support for System Integration Tests (SITs), on-site installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and knowledge transfer across regional engineering and service locations while adhering to TechnipFMC quality, environment, health, and safety policies.

Key responsibilities
- Perform technically correct engineering analysis and deliver optimized engineering solutions in compliance with TechnipFMC standards, project instructions, schedules, processes, and HSE requirements
- Provide technical assistance within projects and at manufacturing, fabrication, and installation sites
- Write and issue technical specifications and engineering reports related to assigned project and operational activities
- Supervise junior engineering personnel by reviewing calculations, design concepts, and engineering solutions to ensure quality and efficiency of deliverables
- Develop and work on design basis for projects and manufacturing operations
- Interface with other engineering disciplines and project functional disciplines including procurement and planning
- Act as technical point of contact for internal and external customers to support ongoing projects and field operations
- Apply real-time technical problem resolution under pressure, including response to offshore issues
- Create, check, and review TCE and engineering documentation through the ECN process
- Conduct and prepare engineering design reviews
- Prepare, review, and validate all levels of engineering calculations
- Create, review, and approve procedures and work instructions for mobilization, demobilization, maintenance, refurbishment, and repair activities
- Manage assigned project status to ensure on-time delivery, productivity, quality, and safety, and report project progress as required
- Prepare and present complex design concepts, improvement proposals, procedures, and technical ideas
- Participate in internal and external technical meetings with clients and suppliers
- Collaborate closely with clients to understand requirements, manage expectations, troubleshoot issues, and deliver technical solutions
- Support technical negotiations with clients and suppliers
- Lead design staff on a project basis to analyze design alternatives, suggest design options, and prepare layouts aligned with customer needs
- Provide technical support during refurbishment and remanufacture activities, including evaluation and approval of concessions and deviations
Experience & skills
- Hold a BS degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification with 2 to 4 years of experience in the field
- Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the oil and gas industry as a Design Engineer, WH Engineer, XT Engineer, System Engineer, or Project Engineer
- Demonstrate experience providing technical support within a team-based project environment
- Possess strong engineering knowledge including analysis, design, and calculation preparation
- Exhibit familiarity with HSE requirements and TechnipFMC engineering, quality, and safety procedures
- Demonstrate ability to create, review, and manage engineering documentation and procedures
- Show capability to support refurbishment, remanufacture, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
- Have proficiency in English with Arabic language skills preferred, both written and oral
