The Senior Technician – Logging & Perforating operates within Halliburton’s Wireline and Perforating product service line in the global energy industry, responsible for diagnosing and repairing surface and downhole electronic and mechanical systems used in logging and perforating operations. The role involves working under general supervision while providing technical leadership and guidance to lower-level technicians in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing logging equipment, including open hole and cased hole tools as well as specialty wireline systems. The technician is required to perform diagnostics and repairs on complex surface systems and downhole tools used in oil and gas well logging operations, ensuring equipment reliability and operational efficiency in field environments. The position includes training under a Principal Technician – Logging and Perforating to develop advanced technical knowledge in equipment maintenance, testing procedures, and operational support functions. The role requires familiarity with laboratory testing equipment used in tool validation and maintenance processes. The technician may assist in radiation record keeping associated with logging operations and ensures compliance with operational safety standards. The position involves field visits to customer locations to resolve technical equipment issues, provide troubleshooting support, and ensure proper follow-up on equipment repairs at headquarters facilities. Work performed in this role directly impacts cost containment, operational efficiency, and overall profitability of wireline operations, where errors are measurable and contained within defined operational boundaries. The role contributes to Halliburton’s oilfield service operations supporting logging and perforating activities critical to well evaluation and energy production efficiency.

Key responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair surface and downhole electronic and mechanical logging and perforating systems to ensure operational reliability and performance in oil and gas field environments.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to lower-level technicians in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing of wireline logging equipment and specialty tools.
- Maintain and service open hole and cased hole logging tools, including calibration, inspection, and preventive maintenance procedures to ensure operational readiness.
- Support training activities under a Principal Technician – Logging and Perforating to gain advanced knowledge in equipment maintenance and tool performance optimization.
- Operate and support laboratory testing equipment used in the evaluation and maintenance of logging and perforating tools and systems.
- Assist in radiation record keeping activities associated with logging operations in compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Visit field locations to troubleshoot and resolve technical equipment issues, providing on-site support to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Follow up on equipment repair activities at headquarters to ensure timely completion, quality assurance, and operational readiness of logging systems.
Experience & skills
- Apply approximately 2 years of experience as a Technician – Logging and Perforating or equivalent experience in electronics and oilfield equipment maintenance.
- Successfully complete Ft Worth maintenance school or equivalent technical training in electronics, mechanical systems, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrate knowledge of surface logging systems, open hole tools, cased hole tools, and laboratory testing equipment used in wireline operations.
- Possess ability to diagnose and repair electronic and mechanical systems used in downhole and surface oilfield applications.
- Demonstrate capability to provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians in logging and perforating maintenance operations.
- Exhibit willingness to work in field environments and perform troubleshooting at remote oil and gas operational locations.
- Demonstrate understanding of radiation record keeping procedures related to logging operations where applicable.
- Possess strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve equipment technical issues efficiently and effectively.
