Job description
The Senior Manager - Microgrids and Battery Storage at The Red Sea Utility Company will act as the center of expertise for microgrid and battery storage solutions. This role involves developing and implementing scalable, innovative solutions to support the transition toward cleaner energy systems, with a strong focus on off-grid applications. The position requires conducting feasibility studies, designing microgrid systems integrating renewable energy, evaluating battery technologies, and optimizing performance. The role also includes providing consultancy services to organizations and ministries within the kingdom and internationally, fostering collaborations, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvement and innovation.

Key responsibilities
- Develop functional strategies and roadmaps for microgrids and battery storage solutions
- Conduct market research, analyze industry trends, and monitor policy developments
- Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for microgrid deployment
- Design microgrid systems integrating renewable energy, storage, and grid interconnection
- Perform modeling and simulation to assess performance, economic viability, and environmental benefits
- Evaluate and design battery storage systems for peak shaving, load shifting, and grid stabilization
- Develop control strategies and algorithms for battery management and energy dispatch
- Lead projects for implementing renewable-based microgrids and battery energy storage systems
- Support commissioning through writing specifications, test plans, and execution oversight
- Conduct technical and commercial analysis of microgrid and battery storage solutions
- Research enhancements in microgrid and storage technologies for adoption within the organization
- Collaborate with customers, OEMs, and internal teams to optimize microgrid design
- Provide consultancy services for external organizations and ministries
- Maintain functional logs, documentation, and reports for senior management
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with microgrids and battery storage
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Collaborate with government agencies, research institutions, and industry associations
- Engage with external vendors to bring expertise into TRSUC
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities in systems, processes, and practices
- Contribute to thought leadership through whitepapers and industry reports
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās / Masterās degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, or related field
- 8-12 years of experience in energy consulting, microgrids, or battery storage
- Experience in utility services, preferably in off-grid sector
- Strong understanding of microgrids, battery storage, and energy policies
- Knowledge of regulations and market dynamics at local, regional, and international levels
- Proficiency in technologies around microgrids and battery storage
