Job description
The Senior Network Engineer (CORE42, Abu Dhabi) plays a key role in core switching and routing implementation, troubleshooting, and documentation across an Enterprise SDN Networking environment that includes Cisco ACI, VMware NSX-T, and firewall components. The role implements data center networking technologies (Cisco ACI, NSX-T, Core and Perimeter firewalls), conducts user acceptance testing, troubleshoots issues during implementation, and provides post-implementation support including maintenance, patching, and upgrades. The engineer develops and maintains documentation for data center networking solutions and for Data Center Core and Perimeter Firewalls; produces low-level designs, system diagrams, installation configurations and guides, support procedures, test plans, and runbooks; ensures solutions are configured and technically deployed to specification and on time; collaborates closely with Systems & Cloud Security teams to ensure solutions are deployed as designed; performs advanced problem determination and root-cause analysis; plans and executes the Core42 Operation Readiness process for Infrastructure projects to transition into production support; and acts as technical lead to third-party vendors to ensure technical assurance and adherence to Core42 quality standards. Project management activities include supporting project scope definition, gathering client requirements, aligning resources, managing communications, identifying tasks and schedules, collaborating with stakeholders, communicating objectives and goals, and completing activities on time, within budget, and within scope. Client implementation responsibilities include developing implementation plans, creating accurate operating procedures, support instructions, and operational/system documentation, and soliciting client feedback on product/solution quality. The role maintains recoverability and utilization targets, plans and executes Operation Readiness within baseline schedules, develops low-level designs and implements systems following Core42 Standard Builds and security compliances, obtains positive project references from clients, supports establishment of new solutions and services, and gains skills and certifications for emerging technologies. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelorâs degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science or related field; certifications such as CCIE (R&S/Security/Data Center), CCNP Collaboration, PCNSE or Fortinet NSE, with VMware VCIX-NV preferred; minimum 8+ yearsâ experience with routing, switching, security, and data center technologies; strong experience designing and implementing Cisco ACI network-centric data center projects with Core and Perimeter Firewalls; VMware network virtualization technologies; architectural knowledge of virtualization tools and concepts (bonus); and strong skills producing and maintaining technical documentation (HLD, LLD, network diagrams). Job-specific skills include routing and switching (IGMP, OSPF, EGP, BGP, MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, STP, RSTP, VTP, VSS, MSTP, LACP, VLAN; LAN switching STP, RSTP, VTP, VSS, vPC, vDC, MSTP, LACP, VLAN, VXLAN-EVPN), hardware platforms (Nexus 9K, Catalyst), security (Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls and IPS; NSX-T security such as distributed firewalls and micro-segmentation; NSX-T Advanced Load Balancer/AVI), IPT and Collaboration (Cisco Call Managers, Meeting Servers, Webex; SIP, RTP), and data center technologies (VXLAN fabric SDN, Single-Site Fabrics, ACI MultiPod & MultiSite, NSX-T based SDDC, Cisco Nexus 9K, Nexus Switches and UCS products).
