Job description
The Red Sea Landscape Nursery seeks a highly motivated and experienced Irrigation Manager to lead a team responsible for the operation and maintenance of the nursery’s irrigation network for all plants and trees. The role manages day-to-day nursery operations (scheduling, supervising staff, task quality and timeliness); oversees growing and maintenance of plants; manages irrigation systems to deliver the correct amounts of water and nutrients; ensures facilities and equipment are well-maintained; manages inventory and orders supplies; develops and implements strategies to increase plant production and improve efficiency; operates and maintains Rain Bird Irrigation System IVM/LXD (IQ3 & IQ4); ensures health and safety regulations and all relevant laws and regulations are followed; supervises construction of new irrigation systems and repairs of existing ones; prepares reports, writes memos, and communicates with clients on irrigation project progress; designs irrigation networks and pumping systems including all electrical and mechanical components; monitors water quality entering and leaving the irrigation system to meet health and safety standards; evaluates irrigation system performance to determine repair or replacement needs; analyzes soil conditions and recommends improvements to maximize yield potential; monitors construction project progress for plan adherence; and monitors water levels in reservoirs and other sources to ensure adequate supply during high demand. The position follows relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions; assists in preparing accurate and timely MIS statements and reports; applies safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls; and contributes to continuous improvement aligned to international best practice for business process enhancement, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.

- Manage day-to-day nursery operations, including staff scheduling, supervision, task quality, and on-time completion
- Oversee growing and maintenance of plants across the nursery
- Operate and maintain Rain Bird Irrigation System IVM/LXD (IQ3 & IQ4) and ensure accurate water and nutrient delivery
- Ensure the nursery is well-maintained and all equipment remains in good working order
- Manage inventory and order supplies as needed to support operations
- Develop and implement strategies to increase plant production and improve operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and relevant laws
- Supervise construction of new irrigation systems and repairs of existing systems
- Prepare reports, write memos, and communicate with clients regarding irrigation project progress
- Design irrigation networks and pumping systems, including electrical and mechanical components
- Monitor water quality entering and leaving irrigation systems to meet standards
- Evaluate irrigation system effectiveness and determine repair or replacement requirements
- Analyze soil conditions and make recommendations to improve crop yield potential
- Monitor construction project progress to ensure adherence to plans and specifications
- Monitor reservoir and other water source levels to ensure adequate supply during peak demand
- Follow functional policies, processes, SOPs, and instructions for controlled and consistent work
- Assist in preparation of accurate and timely functional MIS statements and reports
- Apply safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls
- Identify and contribute to continuous improvement opportunities in systems, processes, and practices
Experience & skills
- Degree in horticulture or a related field
- 8–10 years of experience managing a nursery or similar operation
- Strong organizational and team management skills with ability to supervise irrigation O&M teams
- Deep understanding of irrigation systems and plant care, including Rain Bird IVM/LXD (IQ3 & IQ4) operation and maintenance
- Experience in irrigation network and pumping system design (electrical and mechanical components)
- Ability to ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and legal requirements
- Proficiency in preparing reports, memos, and client updates on project progress
- Skills in water quality monitoring, soil analysis, and yield improvement recommendations
- Capability to manage inventory, ordering, and equipment maintenance
- Excellent English (written and spoken); strong numeracy, attention to detail, and accuracy
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment
