Job description
The APACEMEA Operations Vice President will play a pivotal role in managing operational delivery across the region, ensuring processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with Barclays’ growth strategy in the Middle East. Based in Dubai, this role sits within Global Markets Operations (GMO) and covers Middle Office, Prime Services, Post Trade, Settlements, and Asset Servicing. The VP will design and implement operational processes, strengthen risk management and governance frameworks, and ensure regulatory compliance while enabling business growth. The role will also prepare for Barclays’ expansion into Saudi Arabia, including setting up operational frameworks, regulatory processes, and potentially supporting the establishment of a physical office. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to manage change in a complex, fast-moving environment.

Key responsibilities
- Identify trends and opportunities to improve operations through data and performance metrics analysis.
- Manage operations for the business area, ensuring efficiency, risk management, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including business leaders, vendors, and service providers, to align with strategic goals and SLAs.
- Guide, coach, and support operational professionals to enhance delivery quality.
- Develop and monitor KPIs to measure operational effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international regulatory frameworks.
- Foster a safe environment for colleagues to provide feedback and raise concerns.
- Work with HR to implement retention and workforce engagement initiatives.
- Support new product introduction and assess operational impacts.
- Oversee risk and control frameworks, ensuring alignment with governance standards.
- Advise senior stakeholders on cross-functional operational areas and strategic decisions.
- Champion continuous improvement, change management, and operational transformation initiatives.
- Support Saudi Arabia expansion by developing operational frameworks and regulatory processes.
Experience & skills
- Over 10 years’ experience in Investment Banking Operations, Global Markets Operations, and/or Corporate Banking Operations.
- Proven experience supporting new entity buildouts and regulatory setup.
- Experience introducing new products and managing operational impacts.
- Strong knowledge of regional and local regulatory frameworks.
- Detailed understanding of at least 2–3 product families: Securities, Listed Futures & Options, Foreign Exchange, OTC Derivatives.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with ability to present complex information concisely.
- Positive, proactive, and solutions-focused mindset.
- Preferred: In-depth knowledge of Middle Office, Trade Management, Confirmations, Settlements & Delivery, and Asset Servicing.
- Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint, Visio, Co-Pilot, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Salesforce, Alteryx, and Blue Prism preferred.
