Job description
The Senior Engineer, Plant Operations at ADNOC Onshore in Ruwais, UAE, is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the safe and efficient operation of oil and gas production, processing, and export facilities. This includes oversight of water injection, gas injection, gas lift, ESP wells, and CO2 injection/distribution systems. The role ensures optimal operating efficiency, facility integrity, and compliance with HSE standards. The position involves monitoring plant performance, troubleshooting abnormalities, de-bottlenecking, and implementing corrective actions to maintain plant reliability. The engineer works closely with key stakeholders to optimize operations through alarm management, Field Technical Rate (FTR) / Field Capacity Test (FCT), and Reservoir Monitoring Programs (RMP), while managing shutdowns, risk assessments, and commissioning processes. The engineer also contributes to technical design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID studies, and ensures operational excellence through change management, emergency response, and well integrity activities, all aligned with ADNOCās sustainability and operational goals.

Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise day-to-day oil and gas production, processing, and export operations.
- Monitor water injection, gas injection, gas lift, ESP wells, and CO2 injection systems to ensure efficient and safe operation.
- Analyze operating data, laboratory results, and plant performance against design operating envelopes; highlight deviations and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with stakeholders on alarm management, Field Technical Rate (FTR), Field Capacity Test (FCT), and ensure compliance with KPIs and operational targets.
- Plan and execute shutdown activities, including optimization of manpower and resources, in coordination with Integrated Shutdown Planning Team.
- Participate in root cause analysis for chronic equipment failures and provide guidance on troubleshooting and corrective actions.
- Engage in design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID, OHID, SIL, ISD, and plot plan reviews, providing operational feedback and lessons learned to projects.
- Oversee change management (MOC) for temporary and permanent operational changes, ensuring approvals and proper execution plans.
- Participate in emergency response as part of Tactical Response Team (TRT) and Incident Management Team (IMT), providing guidance, training, and acting as On Scene Commander.
- Supervise critical work activities, high-risk tasks, and non-routine operations in accordance with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and HSE requirements.
- Maintain surface and subsurface facility integrity, coordinating well integrity investigations and preventive actions with relevant teams.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
- Proven knowledge of oil and gas production, water injection, gas lift, ESP wells, and CO2 injection operations.
- Experience with HSE management systems, plant operations, process optimization, and facility integrity.
- Strong skills in alarm management, Field Technical Rate (FTR), Field Capacity Test (FCT), Reservoir Monitoring Programs (RMP), and WAG operations.
- Familiarity with shutdown planning, commissioning, change management (MOC), and emergency response procedures.
- Experience in root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and preventive/corrective maintenance planning.
- Ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including contractors, suppliers, and ADNOC Group companies.
- Knowledge of process safety studies, hazard analyses, and risk management frameworks.
- Strong reporting, documentation, and performance monitoring capabilities.
- Experience in operational optimization, bottleneck identification, and maintaining plant efficiency and reliability.
