Job description
The Technical Supervisor is responsible for leading the onsite retail maintenance team across UAE, ensuring both proactive and reactive maintenance of Chalhoub Group retail outlets. This role requires strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, solid understanding of building maintenance, repair, and Fire Life Safety systems. Key responsibilities include monitoring incidents on the FOCUS platform, coordinating daily maintenance activities, confirming scope of work with brands, liaising with local contractors for tendering, overseeing hands-on maintenance by internal teams, mobilizing retail maintenance resources, communicating with mall duty managers, conducting weekly site inspections, assisting in store openings/closures for HVAC, Fire Fighting and MEP systems, coordinating with projects, design, security, and administrative departments, ensuring compliance with EHS regulations, tracking planned preventive maintenance, preparing monthly incident reports, updating operations manuals, supervising workload and leave allocation for retail technicians, and ensuring 24/7 availability for emergencies.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and supervise onsite technicians to ensure effective maintenance of retail outlets
- Monitor and coordinate incident management using the FOCUS platform
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities for all retail stores in UAE
- Discuss and confirm scope of work with brand representatives and forward client-approved scope to local contractors for tendering
- Oversee hands-on maintenance tasks performed by internal teams to ensure completion within service levels and timelines
- Mobilize retail maintenance team according to forecasted workload
- Communicate with mall duty managers and tenant managers for operational assistance
- Conduct weekly site visits to maintain stores at highest standards
- Assist brands during store openings and closures by checking HVAC, Fire Fighting, and MEP systems
- Collaborate with projects, design, group security, and administrative departments for maintenance and documentation purposes
- Ensure all maintenance jobs comply with EHS health and safety regulations
- Track and schedule planned preventive maintenance for HVAC, FF/FA, and Roller Shutter systems
- Prepare and share monthly retail maintenance incident reports with clients
- Update operational manuals and maintain accurate records for all stores
- Supervise retail maintenance team workload and allocate resources effectively
- Manage leave entitlements and assist in preparing annual leave programs for retail team
- Ensure retail maintenance team availability 24/7 for emergency support
Experience & skills
- Hold an engineering degree or diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, providing foundational knowledge in building systems, HVAC, Fire Fighting, MEP, and electrical infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience in managing multiple service providers and coordinating external contractors for maintenance projects, including tendering processes and evaluating proposals
- Proven ability to use Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for reporting, documentation, and presentation of maintenance performance and incident tracking
- Experience in operating facility management software, specifically the FOCUS platform, to monitor and close incidents, maintain records, and communicate effectively with stakeholders
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and the ability to ensure compliance in all maintenance activities, including safe handling of equipment and conducting regular site inspections
- Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance planning and execution for HVAC, Fire Fighting (FF/FA), Roller Shutter, and MEP systems, ensuring minimal downtime and operational efficiency
- Ability to supervise, allocate, and manage workload for onsite retail maintenance teams, including scheduling shifts, emergency call-outs, and annual leave planning
- Proven track record in coordinating with multiple internal departments such as projects, design, security, and administrative teams, as well as liaising with mall management and tenants to ensure seamless store operations
- Experience supporting store openings and closures with technical checks of HVAC, Fire Fighting, and MEP systems, ensuring operational readiness and safety standards
- Demonstrated skill in preparing comprehensive monthly incident reports, maintaining operations manuals, and documenting maintenance activities to support reporting requirements and client communication
