Job description
The Planning Engineer at Sobha Realty is responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders to manage schedules, identify risks, and implement controls, while ensuring accuracy in contractor submissions, monitoring progress, and driving continuous improvement strategies.

Key responsibilities
- Development and implementation of efficient planning functions, such as work breakdown structure, master schedule review, manpower histograms and cost loading, progress measurement system, and coordination.
- Schedule and progress reviews with recommendations for approval or comments on contractor's schedule submissions, relying on relevant contract terms and conditions.
- Review of time extension claims, forensic analysis of schedules, risk analysis, and continuous improvement strategies.
- Understand and apply engineering, procurement, and construction terminology, concepts, and relationships.
- Review contractor's schedule/progress updates, weekly and monthly reports, and validate the accuracy of progress data in coordination with the site team.
- Record deviations and/or deficiencies in the progress of works, draft notification letters to contractors highlighting concerns affecting schedule/progress.
- Lead the development of weekly and monthly progress reports and presentations, coordinating with the project team for other inputs (quality, safety, commercial, etc.).
- Coordinate with site engineers and inspectors to verify the contents of Daily Progress Reports.
- Generate tabular and graphic reports for baseline targets, actual earned values, and forecasting.
- Pursue implementation of technological advancements and digital innovations in planning, monitoring, and record keeping.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in planning and project control (UAE/Gulf experience preferred).
- Proficient PC skills including Project Controls software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera (Certification as a Primavera Planner Professional is required).
- Experience with Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel.
- Knowledge of construction execution sequencing.
- Ability to support engineering teams in delivering projects on schedule.
