Job description
The Director - Loan Agency will act as agency relationship member for Loan Agency, reporting to the MD and Head of LA, delivering best-in-class agency services with a focus on revenue generation, client satisfaction, and risk awareness. The role requires independent management of agency deals throughout their lifecycle, proactive client engagement, and thorough documentation review. Responsibilities include supporting new business pitches, managing complex transactions, mitigating risks, and ensuring efficient coordination of conditions precedent and subsequent. The position demands leadership in problem-solving, overseeing covenant compliance, managing securities, and providing guidance to junior staff while contributing to departmental projects and efficiency initiatives.

Key responsibilities
- Handle agency deals independently throughout the lifecycle of the transaction
- Support Head of Loan Agency in pitching for agency business and developing client relationships
- Review and negotiate deal documentation from an Agent’s viewpoint
- Ensure legal protections and operational process viability in documentation
- Mitigate and swiftly remediate risk events during transactions
- Coordinate Conditions Precedent and Subsequent for timely drawdowns
- Facilitate waiver and amendment processes and accurately record lender votes
- Monitor and manage covenants to ensure compliance with facility terms
- Maintain and renew security documentation ahead of deadlines
- Ensure accurate records management of original lodged documents
- Assist in resolving complex lender/borrower queries and support junior team members
- Lead bank meetings and conference calls
- Propose process efficiencies and support team capacity creation
- Process primary and secondary trades smoothly and accurately
- Manage fee collection and ensure revenue targets are met
- Lead departmental projects and deliver presentations
Experience & skills
- Degree in a relevant discipline or qualification
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Loan Agency and/or banking industry
- Client-facing experience
- Ability to read, understand, interpret, and negotiate documents from an agency perspective
- Awareness of regulatory and legal requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Mature interpersonal skills and experience managing client contacts
- Leadership skills to support Head of Loan Agency and team members
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to work long hours
