Job description
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for handling construction and consultancy contractual payments, cost forecasting, and the evaluation of claims and variations in alignment with contractual agreements. The role involves conducting rate analyses, auditing quantities and measurements, and validating the cost of construction materials against work progress. The position requires active involvement in site operations to verify task completion in accordance with project timelines. Key responsibilities include contractual correspondence with contractors and consultants, quality control of documentation, and regular communication with all stakeholders in the quantity surveying cycle. The ideal candidate will have at least 10ā15 years of experience, including 5+ years in hotel or commercial building construction, be a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), and possess extensive expertise in construction financials, contracts, and surveying best practices.

Key responsibilities
- Conduct rate analyses to identify construction material costs
- Ensure material cost claims align with actual work progress
- Supervise the preparation and accuracy of data, charts, records, and documents
- Verify accuracy of measurements and calculations for reporting
- Ensure quality control of all reports and deliverables
- Coordinate contractual correspondence with consultants and contractors
- Perform regular site inspections to ensure progress aligns with contract timelines
- Conduct quantity surveying audits of materials and measurements
- Analyze and handle variations to determine payment eligibility
- Maintain and update a cost forecast sheet for each project
- Plan and oversee surveying tasks in line with contract conditions
- Identify potential variations early to prevent escalation
- Interface with stakeholders throughout the QS process
- Support peer staff with shared concerns and technical issues
- Perform other related tasks as directed by the line manager
Experience & skills
- BSc in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering
- 10ā15 years of relevant construction experience
- Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in hotel construction or related high-rise/commercial/industrial projects
- Proven experience in contractual management and construction financials
