This role ensures critical service availability, implements disaster recovery strategies, embeds security controls at all infrastructure layers, oversees database performance and patching, and supports CI/CD pipelines with containerized environments. The manager leads a cross-functional team of engineers and specialists, driving automation, continuous improvement, and governance in line with NCA, DMO, and ISO 27001 standards. The position also encompasses vendor negotiations, SLA management, budget oversight, and reporting on capacity, incidents, and operational performance, combining deep technical expertise with leadership and strategic decision-making.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the design, capacity planning, deployment, and daily operations of on-premises data centers and network architecture, including routing, switching, firewalls, LAN and WAN.
- Ensure availability, performance, and reliability of critical IT services, implementing robust backup operations and disaster-recovery strategies.
- Manage cloud and hybrid hosting environments (Azure, GCP), optimizing costs, governance, and security practices, while integrating workloads with on-prem resources.
- Collaborate with the Security team to embed infrastructure security controls, supervise vulnerability management, monitor security events, and lead incident response.
- Provide oversight for database platforms including SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring proper provisioning, backup, recovery, performance tuning, and compliance with SLA and security requirements.
- Lead system administration for Windows and Linux servers, including lifecycle management, configuration, patching, hardening, and automation using PowerShell or Ansible.
- Support development and DevOps teams by maintaining reliable build, test, and deployment environments, promoting containerization and orchestration best practices.
- Manage, coach, and mentor a cross-functional team of engineers and administrators, conduct performance reviews, plan career paths, assess skill gaps, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Negotiate contracts and SLAs with vendors, manage the infrastructure budget, track expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Produce operational dashboards, track availability and incident trends, conduct post-incident reviews, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal governance standards.
Experience & skills
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, including at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role overseeing teams or large-scale projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of network design, data center operations, cloud and hybrid cloud architectures, and infrastructure security operations.
- Proficiency in database administration (SQL and NoSQL), system administration (Windows Server and Linux), and DevOps tooling including CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, and automation (PowerShell, Ansible).
- B.Sc. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field; professional certifications are a plus.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and people development skills to manage cross-functional teams effectively.
- Strong strategic thinking and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams, vendors, and executive leadership.
- Experience in budget management, vendor negotiations, SLA enforcement, and operational reporting.
- Ability to drive operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across the IT infrastructure landscape.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards relevant to IT infrastructure, including NCA, DMO, and ISO 27001.
