Job description
Reporting to the Integrity & Compliance Manager and Team Lead of Reliability & Condition Monitoring, the Condition Monitoring Engineer establishes systems and procedures for managing condition monitoring and the performance of turbo machineries and rotating equipment from operations, maintenance, and integrity perspectives, aiming to reduce mean time between maintenance and overall life cycle costs. The role sets condition monitoring inspection plans for all turbo machineries and ancillaries; performs and oversees required condition monitoring tasks per company standards/specifications; conducts boroscopic inspection of internals (blades, impellers, bearings); executes extensive vibration analysis and other diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot rotating machinery and recommend remedial measures; performs performance evaluation on turbo machineries; participates in reliability improvement programs (RCM, RAM studies) and leads Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) as required; evaluates and implements new technologies for condition monitoring and performance diagnosis; studies and improves parameters influencing equipment condition (e.g., lube oil quality, temperature, pressure); develops reports for routine plans and investigations; performs motor health checks using motor current signature analysis; acts as custodian for condition monitoring standards/specifications and inspection data/database; and conducts detailed health checks for turbomachinery and other rotating equipment using total condition monitoring techniques. The role manages allocated resourcing, develops yearly plans and budgets, sets development/competency programs and conducts coaching for subordinates, and ensures adherence to Quality & HSE procedures/guidelines, accountability/criticality/safety/security/hygiene procedures, and all statutory HSE requirements. Tools and platforms include SAP, Bentley Nevada System 1 and ADRE, SKF and CSI analyzers, condition monitoring packages, and project management tools, with working knowledge required across gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, cooler fans, pumps, OEM manuals, engineering drawings (P&IDs/PFDs), refinery/petrochemical processes, applicable codes/standards, and OTTCOâs IT technology platform and HSE standards. Work is performed across field operations and office environments in Oman â Muscat, Duqm, and Ras Markaz.

Key responsibilities
- Establish and manage condition monitoring business requirements and inspection plans for all turbo machineries and system ancillaries.
- Execute required condition monitoring tasks in accordance with company standards and specifications and support routine PM plans with pre/post technical inputs.
- Perform boroscopic inspection of machinery internals (blades, impellers, bearings) and document findings.
- Analyze vibration and other diagnostic data to troubleshoot rotating machinery problems and recommend remedial measures.
- Conduct performance evaluations on turbo machineries and lead reliability improvement programs including RCM and RAM studies.
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for turbo machineries and rotating equipment and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies for condition monitoring and performance diagnosis to improve reliability and reduce lifecycle costs.
- Study and optimize parameters influencing equipment condition (e.g., lube oil quality, temperature, pressure) and devise improvements.
- Develop and issue required reports for routine plans and investigative activities, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
- Perform motor health checks using motor current signature analysis and other total condition monitoring techniques.
- Act as custodian for condition monitoring standards, specifications, inspection data, and databases, ensuring governance and accessibility.
- Manage allocated resources efficiently, develop yearly plans and budgets, and set competency development programs for subordinates.
- Conduct coaching activities to enhance team performance and capability in reliability and condition monitoring practices.
- Ensure work execution per established Quality and HSE procedures/guidelines and adhere to accountability, safety, security, and hygiene procedures.
- Abide by all statutory HSE requirements and implement all Quality and HSE requirements within the area of jurisdiction.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Upstream/Downstream) and manage external interfaces with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs in Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in a relevant condition monitoring/reliability role.
- Vibration analysis certification Level III (minimum).
- Working knowledge of refinery/petrochemical processes, applicable codes/standards, and project specifications.
- Proficiency with condition monitoring packages and data analyzers (e.g., Bentley Nevada System 1, ADRE, SKF, CSI) and SAP.
- Strong understanding of turbomachinery principles, internals, and design parameters (gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, cooler fans, pumps) with troubleshooting capability.
- Experience in maintenance program types and reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) requirements.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, PFDs, engineering drawings, and OEM manuals.
- Experience in plant troubleshooting, process optimization, and problem solving, including RCFA and RCM (RCM, A-RCM, PMO, TPM).
- Computer literate with project management tools and PDF writer; motivated, dependable, and reliable.
- Excellent English (written and spoken); Arabic native desirable; ability to operate in field operations and office environments.
