Job description
The Backend Developer at Rapyd in Dubai will play a critical role in advancing global fintech solutions as part of the Collect Acquiring team. The developer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of payment APIs and backend processing systems that power international financial transactions. This role requires contributing to the software framework of a fast-growing, innovative payments platform, actively participating in architectural design discussions, and collaborating closely with product owners, team leads, development teams, and support staff. The position emphasizes building scalable, secure, and reliable systems to support the growth of Rapydâs global fintech services. The developer will also be expected to implement automated testing to ensure the stability of complex systems, leverage cloud services for deployment and system management, and stay updated on emerging best practices in network and software security. Strong problem-solving abilities, organisational skills, and the capacity to manage multiple projects in a dynamic international environment are essential. Key responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize payment APIs and backend processing systems using C#, .NET, and .NET Core technologies to support global fintech operations
- Participate actively in software architectural design discussions and contribute innovative solutions to improve system scalability, reliability, and performance
- Collaborate closely with product owners, team leads, other development teams, and support staff to ensure alignment of backend development with overall product objectives
- Design and implement automated tests to guarantee the quality, stability, and maintainability of backend systems across multiple projects
- Engage in the deployment, monitoring, and management of cloud-based backend systems, ensuring secure, efficient, and high-performing operations
- Document backend system designs, implementation details, and development processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintain technical excellence
- Identify and troubleshoot complex backend and payment processing issues, providing robust and timely technical solutions
- Ensure that software development practices comply with industry standards, security best practices, and company policies to protect sensitive financial data
- Balance multiple concurrent backend development projects, prioritizing tasks according to impact, deadlines, and strategic objectives
Experience & skills
- BSc degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution
- 3â5 years of hands-on backend development experience, with a strong portfolio of work in scalable, production-grade systems
- Proven expertise in .NET, .NET Core, C#, and SQL development for high-performance backend applications
- Experience designing and maintaining payment APIs and payment processing systems in a commercial or fintech environment
- Practical knowledge of automated testing frameworks and test-driven development methodologies
- Experience using cloud services (AWS, Azure, or similar) for deployment, scaling, and maintenance of backend systems
- Understanding of network and software security principles and secure software development practices
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills for complex backend systems
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and projects effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with international teams in English
- Interest in emerging fintech technologies, global payments, and the broader financial services ecosystem
