Job description
The Manager, Securities Services/Custody Operations role is responsible for overseeing and strengthening custody and securities operations in Dubai, ensuring high service standards, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across international markets. The position ensures that Department Operating Instructions, checklists, and service level agreements are maintained, reviewed, and consistently applied by the team. The role reviews and enhances account opening processes, drives best practices across the group, and leads service discussions with sub-custodians to improve operational efficiency, client experience, and timely closure of open items. The role requires deep expertise in international settlement processes and corporate actions, close collaboration with Implementation and Sales teams for client onboarding, and active oversight of client servicing through timely query management and service review calls. The position plays a critical role in revenue protection by preventing unauthorized P&L debits, ensuring strict adherence to group policies, KYC, AML, and sanctions requirements, and maintaining a strong control environment. The role leads and participates in projects related to risk mitigation, service improvement, technology upgrades, regulatory change, audits, and peer reviews, while providing structured feedback to Product and Network teams. The position is accountable for audit readiness, successful closure of audit findings, and timely escalation of operational issues to senior leadership within Securities Services.

Key responsibilities
- Maintain and regularly review Department Operating Instructions, checklists, and service level agreements to ensure consistent operational practices
- Review and improve account opening processes and implement best practices across the group
- Lead service discussions and operational calls with sub-custodians to improve efficiency and client experience
- Provide timely escalation and updates to management on operational risks, issues, and concerns
- Oversee settlement processing in international markets and corporate actions activities
- Coordinate with Implementation and Sales teams to onboard clients and open custody accounts with sub-custodians
- Manage client query handling through shared securities services mailboxes within agreed turnaround times
- Prevent revenue leakage by ensuring no unauthorized debits to P&L accounts
- Conduct service review calls with clients to maintain high service standards and achieve zero client complaints
- Strengthen collaboration with GBS teams to ensure account administration activities meet turnaround requirements
- Manage communication and implementation of changes in market practices and sub-custodian arrangements
- Participate in RFPs, RFIs, and due diligence meetings for prospective and existing clients
- Lead and contribute to projects related to risk mitigation, service improvement, technology upgrades, audits, and regulatory initiatives
- Support operational risk awareness, implementation, and management across the function
- Ensure ongoing adherence to group policies and KYC, AML, and sanctions regulations
- Perform periodic self-assessments of key controls to ensure effectiveness and adequacy
- Ensure audit readiness and successful closure of internal and external audits without major findings
- Escalate material operational issues to the Head of Securities Services in a timely manner
Experience & skills
- Demonstrate strong expertise in custody operations with a focus on securities settlement
- Exhibit knowledge of international market settlement processes and corporate actions
- Possess exposure to cash management operations as an advantage
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Exhibit experience operating within a regulated banking environment with strong compliance requirements
