Job description
The Colocation Regional Engineer (Mechanical) at AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for driving Mechanical and Electrical engineering services, construction, and implementation of enterprise-scale data centers supporting AWS global infrastructure. The role supports AWS data centers, including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring continuous service availability and operational reliability. The position involves working with design engineering stakeholders, construction teams, operations teams, and commissioning teams both regionally and globally to deliver hyperscale data center projects. The Colocation Regional Engineer acts as the engineering representative for the Data Center Field Engineering Team, supporting data center site selection, planning, and development while evaluating mechanical and electrical systems using data-driven decision-making aligned with AWS engineering guidelines. The role includes working with colocation vendors to review data center design, performing submittal reviews, incorporating AWS products, supporting construction activities, commissioning, and handover processes. The engineer troubleshoots site and equipment failures, performs Root Cause Analysis (RCA), develops Corrective Action (CA) documentation, and supports operational issues including procedure reviews and essential equipment support. The role requires providing technical support for data center upgrades to improve availability, capacity, and operational efficiency while working with operating partners and reviewing design solutions. The engineer interfaces with server hardware teams, environmental health and safety teams, and data center design engineering teams to maintain standards and service consistency. The position includes managing concurrent projects across multiple geographic regions, conducting engineering site audits, and producing risk mitigation and remediation reports. The role requires hands-on experience in data center design, construction, operations, and mission-critical facilities including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities, along with knowledge of building codes, construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documentation.
